gostangs,

That is consistent with what I've heard as well. Combined with the fantastic tennis center across the street that is going to make for a beautiful and dynamic entry to campus from Mockingbird.

Once the entry features go up on Mockingbird it will look like you are entering SMU instead of HP. Which is great.

Any chance someone can take a picture or two of the tennis center progress and post them for us out of towners? Maybe PP can do a tour or two ala The Moody renovation? Could be nice for the Tennis team.

And I think Lacrosse would be an absolutely solid add as a D-1 sport, even more so than Baseball. Lax is big out on the west coast as well.

Someone said a few months back that our new indoor facility would mirror Vandy's new one.

Awesome news if true:

Others have bitched about our football weightroom and other secondary facilities, saying they are outdated. Is this true? If so, hopefully they can be expanded and improved as well

friar, have you heard when the Mockingbird retail center redesign is going to break ground? I've seen some renderings and they look fantastic. From what I remember the plan is to brick that entire shopping center from La Madeleine down to CVS in the traditional SMU Georgian brick style. The last I remember was that it would start at some point in the summer of 14.
I heard the costs associated with the redesign were much higher than anticipated and that has caused the brakes to be tapped on this project. I think it is in the huddle up and re-assess mode right now.

Our facilities are better than almost everyone in The American.

The one at Vandy is a good comparison. It will be something pretty special. Think traditional SMU Georgian brick with large glass windows on the ends. It will be one of the five best IPF facilities in the country.

That sounds pretty damn cool. If a big name donor doesn't want their name on it, we should name it for a Mustang legend. We already have Doak Walker Plaza, what about the Jerry LeVias Indoor Performance Center?

Big name donor is already lined up. You will know the name very well.

Maybe name it after a local sportscaster…maybe the Dale Hansen indoor sports facility - and have it double as a drunk tank?
