Except I said he should have been forced out by the NBA years ago for racially discriminatory housing practices, which is a lot worse and actually hurts people unlike what he said in a private conversation. But keeping throwing out your lame-brain, bombastic accusations- you've learned well from Stallion

From what I read somewhere, many of the owners wanted to get him out but they were afraid of the "slippery slope" that Mark Cuban mentioned in his interview. Supposedly, the only other time they removed an owner was back in the 80s when they removed the Cavs owner for something. Personally, I don't understand why this has blown up. It's been pretty much understood that Sterling was racist. My conspiracy theory on this is that Sterling was set up to be removed and he'll end up selling the team to a group led by...Magic Johnson. I'm sure Miss Stiviano got a little extra incentive under the table to release those recordings.

There has never been a finding of fact that sterling engaged in violations of the fair housing act, not saying that silver isn't a racist but the NBA can't act on accusations.
My guess is if the vote of the owners is anonymous sterling can likely convince 7 of them to vote against the force sale of the team. It's a pretty dangerous precedent to set that one leak of a stupid comment can force you to have to sell a close to billion dollar asset. All of the owners are human so I'm sure they have said or done some stupid things in private that they would not want to go public. That said the mob mentality of having to purge anyone who expresses a non PC thought is strong enough that if the vote is public I could see all the owners going for it.
