He won a BCS title and an SEC championship. His HC record is only .500, but that was at ISU (awful) and Auburn (SEC West).

Meh, I'd pass. Really had one good year thanks to the Cammy Cam.

Yeah I can't decide about him. Newton and Malzahn were the keys to his national championship, but the AAC isn't the SEC West, and it's easier to recruit with a national championship on your resume. Seems to have a lot of upside potential.

Edit: I'll defer to the folks who know more about him. Sounds like he rode Malzahn and Newton to one good year and isn't really a great choice. That said, if he was the hire, I would get on board.

Fox news article is garbage. I'm sorry but we don't need another football mind, only a "name" who actually is enthusiastic. In defense of June and his knowledge of X and Os, if you gave June LSU's players, he would have blown out Baylor to the point that the stadium would have crumbled....

Chiz did ride Cam and Gus to the title, and did little else.

Auburn is a small town and the coach is the face of the University. I can tell you he was horrible at outreach, and most folks in the Auburn family were glad to see him go.

You don't understand the game of football.

I'm looking for a guy who wants the fight, has a name (can recruit), out to prove the naysayers wrong, knows the game.... I think my list qualifies...

This is not his first trolling attempt

Scott would be great but he is really more of a west coast guy with few ties to Texas.

Now Rhett Lashlee on the other hand might be the guy.

He is a baby Malzon and is defenitely a rising start.

Thanks. I just hope it is not Derek Dooley.

Someone help me out here. Don't most Championship coaches do it with good and/or great players? You do not have to like a coach but to suggest the only reason he won was good players is ridiculous.

Frank Wilson from LSU.

Nick Saban, Butch Davis and Steve Spurrier got torched in the NFL when the player playing field was leveled. What's more absurd is your suggestion that someone like Nick Saban blew out Notre Dame (for example) because he was a better "coach" than Kelly. Call anyone in Baton Rouge, Les Miles would fail the wonderlic test....

there have been plenty of coaches who screwed up their very talented teams

Sure but that is not my point. You cannot discount coaching ability just because a coach had good players. Most winning coaches do.
