SMU Football Blog wrote:Youth lacrosse season officially over. (Thank God). Single worst lacrosse year for me ever. Fall season was a mess and Spring was a disaster.
Allen wins state title in Division I in OT. The discrepancy between NTX lacrosse and the rest of the state is chasm.
What is the reason for the chasm? Does NTX have more Lacrosse guys working in the feeder programs? That is the discrepancy in N. FLA. One youth program has all lacrosse guys as coaches. So the kids get better lacrosse coaching earlier and are more ready to start their high school careers.
With Jacksonville University starting to graduate players, a lot are staying in North Florida. This is starting to translate into better and better coaching at the youth and JV Levels. In a few more years, these coaches will be seasoned enough to start taking over HS programs. This will raise The overall level of lacrosse in this part of the state.

Woodlands actually did very well last year. However, the fact is the NTX programs are older and more established than in Austin or Houston. HP may have more lacrosse players than the entire city of Houston.

Made a mistake. That was from an earlier round. HP won state. North Texas dominates.
Naval playoffs started this week. Most games were blowouts.

Two years ago I was apart of a varsity coaching staff in north Dallas. We were "reassigned" after the season and a coach was brought in that had US National team experience.
Still put 9 kids from that team at D1,2,3 schools, but it's very cut throat in Dallas. Lots of pressure to win and it's tough to do against the HPs, ESDs and St Marks.

Has to be a coaching network. No way it could be anything else really.

Word is from those I know that went that while the MLL Allstar game in Houston was a great event, attendance appeared to be pretty spotty (estimated 7k).
I have to believe it would have been better attended if it had been held in either Frisco or possibly at Ford. More likely Frisco.

Once (1979), Hopkins played an all star team from Texas at Ownby. Got pretty good attendance at a time when not many people knew what lacrosse was in Dallas.
