It is being hashed about here in Tuscaloosa tonight in the bars - Paul Finebaum retweeted it this afternoon. Seems crazy.

So the PAC 12 is just gonna be cool with the LHN? I don't think so. And where is OK State gonna go? You think they are just going to let big brother walk out on them with no recourse? Sorry I just don't see that either.

As is so often the case, it sounds sexy for UT to head to the PAC12, but the devil is in the details.

Look at a map of the PAC12. The old time traditional schools are Wash, Wash St, Oregon, Oregon St, Cal, Stanford, USC & UCLA. The 'relative' newbies are Arizona, Arizona St, Colorado and Utah. Assume you add UT and Tech. Don't know who makes up the final 2 schools to get to 16 (maybe OK State), but I strongly suspect the old time traditional schools will want to remain in the same division.

The swing schools geographically are USC & UCLA, both of whom carry a lot of weight, and I don't see either of them going to the new 'Eastern Division' under any circumstances. So talk of UT heading west to the PAC12/16 and playing UCLA, Stanford, USC and Oregon....well not really. They're going to end up in a rather uninspiring division with maybe 1 game a year against a real PAC team. Will UT alum really enjoy trips to Arizona and Salt Lake City? Suddenly Lubbock looks a lot more appealing.

And I just wonder, before all the dust settles, would Colorado have a phone call with the Big 10? Now that would be a hoot if they avoided UT all over again.

Maybe so but I wouldn't trust cowherd. There is not a bigger PAC homer (especially regarding USC) anywhere in the media. I assume this is just his opinion with nothing to support it.

Chip Brown was on ESPN Austin this morning saying this could be a way for the SEC to absorb the Big 12 and the SEC could handle the LHN

Absorb the Big 12, as in Texas and Oklahoma only?

Actually, makes some sense. SMU's best shot is for the ACC to put a conference network in place. If that happens, Yahtzee!

SEC Network and LHN can easily be combined since they are both ESPN products.

So the SEC will go to 24. Make sense. They can have the west be the 10 Big 12 schools + A&M and Missouri. Hilarious.

We need this to happen as it leaves no viable expansion targets for the PAC and maybe they come in for Houston and Dallas markets
