How anyone can come on this board and post 7,100+ times in 5 years and think we can't be competitive in the B12 is beyond me. (unless you are a ponydad-debbie downer poster)

UT & OU are heavyweights. SMU in the B12 wouldn't have to take a back seat to anyone else.

Lol

So tell me which schools SMU would take a back seat to?

BTW, from the formation of the SWC in 1914 until we received the DP, only 2 schools were more successful than SMU. UT & Arkansas. Not the Aggies, not TCU, not Baylor. That's 70 years.

UT, then Arkansas, then SMU.

If Baylor and TCU can compete consistently (or at least TCU) then SMU could as well.

Their fans go to games. Our fans complain on message boards because people don't go.

Big XII expansion is tricky because NONE of the G5 schools, with the possible exception of BYU add any value revenue wise. Looking down the road for potential, UCF and USF probably have the most to offer because of their large undergraduate enrollments. I don't see Houston adding value because this isn't about the quality of your football program today...not to mention their coach will probably end up with another Big XII school someday soon.

I think anyone joining the conference will have to hike their skirt higher than TCU and WVU did and be willing to accept a really small share of conference revenue for a long time. They could do that and STILL be better off than they would be staying at the G5 level.

When I look at the Texas/OU issue, I can't see an East/West scenario where the Big XII adds UCF, Cincy & Memphis in the east and Houston or BYU in the west because do they really want the west champ to have to play one of those eastern schools in a football championship? Talk about a low rating for your championship game! I could see formation of a north/south group separating Texas from OU which could mean adding USF/UCF to the south along with the Texas schools.

Whatever happens, I just don't see SMU in any mix on the football side so I hope Jank can build on our recent bball success.

I would say my ideal expansion is SMU, Houston, and BYU in the West, Cincy in the East. Why would Texas want OU in their division????

Expansion has quickly pivoted and is now imminent. SMU is not realistically part of the discussion. How much longer do the big donors continue to feed the bottomless money pit that is AAC football and half empty stadiums, with no chance to ever join the big boy table and get the real $$$$ :?: :?:
