Herman is the reason the [deleted] (what Donald likes to grab) cats did not get an invite. Texas blocked it. If Herman was a P5 coach he might have stayed at uh. Now no reason at all to not jump ship to the castrated cows.

Which schools wanted Houston? I don't think any of the non-Texas schools did

I think it's semi humors that people think UH is a top 10 job if they are in a P5 conference. Better than UT? LSU? Notre Dame? USC? Come on. Herman didn't stop anything. Any of those schools can buy out his contract. The better reason is they couldn't get two teams that could get support. Some, like Gundy, don't want more Texas schools because it would hurt there recruiting. Herman is not the be all end all of the coaching world.
Why expand if you are the Big 8 remnants and you weren't going to get any more money? The networks gave them money for a championship game and maybe some extra cash to shut up. It's not a great long term viable situation but they passed on L'Ville and Pitt when the Big East imploded because they still had A&M and Missou.
TCU has been progressive with its funding (nice stadium upgrades), had some good luck on the football coaching front (and baseball) and captured the support of Ft Worth with timely winning, but otherwise they aren't a better option than SMU. They and Baylor want to hold on to P5 status and keep SoonerHorn happy.
I think when the grant of right expires the Big XII will probably lose Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Possibly Kansas and TCU instead of Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. Nonetheless I think if we keep building up our football and basketball teams we will keep improving our standing. A logical merger of the leagues would include 2 divisions of 7 full members and 1 football only member each.

I think it is semi humerus (just pulling your leg) that anyone besides delusional coogfan would think uh is a top 10 job. I also think that ut would go to great lengths to sabotage anything or anyone who might be even a remote threat to their desires. Come on.
I would keep TCU and Baylor out if they had to come into the AAC after the Little 8 are left behind. Let them crawl their way into the Mwc or CUSA/Sunbelt

You clearly don't know what you are talking about. The Big XII would be the conference inviting the AAC teams. The stronger conference always poaches. The Big XII would have better TV deals, bowl tie-ins, NCAA tournament credits, etc. Don't be stupid, if anything people at Baylor and TCU with your mentality will try to keep SMU and Houston out.
