It's a Canadian thing.

And Stallion, FWIW McGill beat Wichita State last August.

It's the exchange rate.

That was my first thought. Maybe we should play some more games there.

McGill had a rouge.

This is something the selection committee will weigh heavily in March.

They got destroyed by Alabama, I believe. The defense is something to keep our eyes on, and is often a challenge for young teams.

I'm not sure what it is about teams shooting the three well against us. I didn't see the game but in the past it usually hasn't been a lack of effort or closing out. McGill set a program record making 16 threes last night on 40 attempts (40%).

I thought it had something to do with the metric system.

When you lack size inside or don't have perimeter quickness, you give space. It also happens if there are a lot of new players and you don't trust them to slide over and cover for you.

There are tons of great shooters in basketball now. If you give players space, they will hit their shots.

First, McGill had less size inside than we did. As for perimeter quickness, Shake and Will are not the quickest guards but both are very long and play smart. Whitt and Landrum are above average in quickness and when Gu is on a guard he handles spacing as well as anyone. Now, I'll give you that the lack of experience playing together probably gave the McGill players some open looks but I don't buy the lack of size or quickness.

Sometimes teams just hit shots regardless of how well you defend. It happens to us a lot. If a team knows how to space the floor well and they have good passers, they are going to get open looks. I've watched every SMU basketball game over the past five years with the exception of these exibition games and I can only remember a handful of games where didn't defend the three well. The Zags at Moody comes to mind. They had so much size down low we had to collapse and double team their bigs leaving perimeter guys wide open. Luckly, they couldn't throw it in the ocean from deep that night, especially Wiltjer.

Before last season, teams took advantage of Nic on the outside and we gave a lot of space.

Last season, we got better and better as the season went along and the team gained trust in each other. But in the beginning of the year, we backed off to protect the interior.

Overall as a team, despite the length on the outside, we have a tendency to defend from behind the three point line. Good shooters shoot from a few feet back from the line now, so it negates the length that we do have up top. If you swing the ball around quickly enough, we get caught helping on the back wing, so that shot is open all day long.

They are shooting 12-of-25 from three at the half! That's just silly.
