You're nuts. The guy's going to be the head coach for the rest of the year. Remember, last year we lost to UNT and still almost went to a bowl. Same could happen this year. It's stupid to think they'd fire him before the TCU game anyway.
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!
At some point in the off season, I said I can imagine a defensive line that couldn' t get any pressure leaving our poor secondary exposed, forcing Willis to play catch up in almost every game.
I was hopeful that I was mistaken. This is unfotunate.
We are averaging giving up 40 points a game. This isn't the worst pass defense in IA, it is one of the worst defenses adn possibly the worst. Period.

And our HC has had six years to build a program and his alleged strength is:
a. Offense
b. Defense
c. Special teams
d. None of the above

i just want a commitment to winning. show me something. a lame duck coach is worse than an interim coach in my humble opinion.

Dropping down to a lower level isn't the answer. The answer is to $pend some money and hire a REAL Division 1 football coach. Not some coordinator or someone who did well at Southeast Northern Carolina College. Someone you've seen succeed at a major University.
Phil will be let go during the season if, and only if, he is mathematically eliminated from bowl contention. You fire a coach because he can't win. You give him every opportunity to do so. It isn't as if anyone actually believes Rusty or Gush could do better. You don't fire a coach out of spite (as much as one might want to).

Everyone here is committed to winning. They just haven't done it. It's not like everyone's running around trying to embarrass this school. From top to bottom every SOB on that sideline wants to win every single game for SMU, it's just not happening.

why? we're going to get killed either way. and why not give the few faithful, the players and the recruits the firm knowledge that a change IS going to happen instead of speculating and losing interest as every week passes? it might "not ever happen" in college football as some of you say, but desperate times take desperate measures, and folks, we are desperate beyond belief. can the coach now, give the team to an assistant for the rest of the season, and at least give us some kind of hope for the future. sitting through the rest of the season with this coach will not inspire any kind of hope whatsoever, and we have NOTHING else.
