Re: Official SMU-Tech Game Thread
In all seriousness the only thing that made me worry was the inaccuracy of Padron on the pass offesne. WR couldn't run after the catch. He was staring down receivers and not checking off. I could be Mr. Negative, but these are things that will be overcome. Our "D" was very impressive in their "bend but do not break style". They came up with stops when it was really needed. Special teams was great - 2 blocks and a 61 yd. FG.
We came up short tonight - (I am going to hear a world of crap from my neighbor - TT alumn), but we have stuff to build upon.

I believe Tech and TCU will be the toughest opponents we face this year. JJ said this summer that the players were nervous about this game, probably contributing to the turnovers. Honestly didnt think we would still be in this one in the 4th quarter. Although not a victory, we handled the spread, and the kids demonstrated that they don't quit. There are some tough guys on this team. I'm proud of them and know that they will work hard to correct all of the problems the coaching staff will undoubtedly point out to them this coming week. I think we will contend for the title in CUSA.
Re: Official SMU-Tech Game Thread
You have to love the arrogance of TT in going for the 4th down then us getting a touchdown after the fumble.

Agreed. I actually wish him luck and hope he shows the Pirate idiots that Tech can win with class and sportsmanship.

Re: Official SMU-Tech Game Thread
I consider this a win for us!!! Hope Padron's hand is o.k. The announcers were HORRIBLE!!! They called Potts Kyle Padron and praised him on staying in the pocket to make the pass. At the beginning of the game--the kick where our guy knocked it out of the end zone, the commentator was saying--even if the ball breaks the plain of the goal line it can be knocked out. Once the referree put it on the 20 for a touchback he completely reversed everything he had just said. O.k--question for ya'll---I though since our player's feet were in bounds when he knocked it out it would be placed where we touched it rather than a touchback. My husband thought the same, too. Typical SMU football---never leave before it's over! Those of you in the blue t-shirts stood out. THey showed the Life after Death sign as well as the what's that smell in Lubbock---an upset. Band sounded GREAT on t.v. I could hear our fight song--even when tt's was making noise. Definitely need to work on several areas but kuddos for the comeback!

Bob Davie is a worse announcer than coach, and that is hard to imagine. He is a know-nothing chatterbox. I turned down the ESPN audio after he demonstrated that, among other things, he doesn't understand the rules.
But no, this should not be considered a victory. Our kids need to learn to compete with the BCS schools and shouldn't consider any loss a victory.

Agreed. This was a defeat, and I never want to be satisfied with defeat.
But it *was* progress. Encouraging progress. I'm excited and optimistic.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

You ponies could definitely use some lessons about class and sportsmanship too. Maybe Tubs can find the time for a trip to Dallas?

Well, considering how far we've come in such a short time and being in Lubbock, I do consider it a victory. NEVER did TT or anyone ever think we would come w/in 8 points of a "real" victory.

Ahh, a Pirate devotee. Sorry, but your days are over.
