While channel surfing today, I came across a documentary on The Sundance Channel called Hamburger America. Don't know when it will be broadcast again but...wow! Anyone who loves hamburgers needs to see this film! The filmmakers interviewed people all across America about different varieties of hamburgers.

First was Dyer's Hamburgers in Memphis, TN where the burgers are made in 90-year old grease! Yep...you read that right! (Note to HixsontoLeVias: go check it out and give us a report!)

Next was Ted's Hamburgers in Connecticut (sorry, I missed the name of the town) where they make steamed hamburgers.

Then it was on to Sadalia, MO and The Wheel-In Drive-In, home of the Peanut Burger Burger. Yep...they slap a dollop of peanut butter on that patty while it's cooking. :?

Next stop was Solly's near Green Bay, Wisconsin where they make Butter Burgers. A huge helping of Wisconsin butter is laid on top of the patty while it's cooking. Interestingly enough, the eatery recently relocated and it's now just a few doors down from the Wisconsin Heart Hospital!

Then on to Meer's, OK and The Meers Store where they make Texas longhorn beef burgers! (Note to self: have to go eat here sometime soon!)

Next stop: Bobcat Bite in Santa Fe, NM where they make green chile cheeseburgers!

Followed by Louis Lunch where they make hamburgers in broilers that have been in use since 1898! (Sorry...didn't catch the name of the town/state where it's located)

And finally, for all of you Chicago Cubs fans...The Billy Goat Inn & Tavern in Chicago, IL in the shadow of Wrigley Field. This eatery was the basis for the infamous Saturday Night Live "Cheeseborger! Cheeseborger!
Cheeseborger!" skit. Many of the SNL alumni who were originally from Chicago frequented this establishment.

Boarded up, with a note on the door saying "the locks have been re-keyed."

Going to miss that place.

Anyone know any more info? I work near there and recently saw a van from a constuction/renovation company parked out front........ any chance they are just remodeling? Please?

OK, got the info. Turns out it closed due to a dispute with the property owners that had been ongoing for some time, and is thus still not settled.

I wouldn't expect to see it reopen, at least not there.

But we can all hope.

Dispute with the landlord was mainly over why Joe Willy's wasn't paying the rent.

Well, it's Joe Willy's. They make great burgers for ponyfans. Why should they have to pay rent?

sounds like a retaliatory eviction for not paying rent. I could have the pleadings filed by this afternoon. Unfortunately, clients who can not pay rent often can't pay lawyers.

I bet SMU had something to do with it. They still accepted my student ID for a discount, even tho I've not been a student in some time.

My source told me it was something other than a rent payment issue but told me not to post it on here....... but he was more on the Joe Willys side so who knows.

Texadelphia, located in the Village Shopping Center, will be unveiling the SMU Athletics mural. This mural is 19 ft wide! Come see if you can guess all of the Mustangs featured. Try the "Doaker" a hamburger dedicated to Doak Walker. For each "Doaker" sold Texadelphia will donate .37 to the Mustang Club. The unveiling begins at 6pm! Get there early!

Sounds like it's time to reassemble the Burger Crew!![/b]

I never knew Texadelphia even had burgers, but far be it from me to rule it out without trying it first.

I just called the restaurant to find out what day this is happening since it says 6 p.m. but no date! The hostess says "It's already up." She didn't know anything about an 'official' unveiling, though.

I'll go eat a burger there so that .37 will be donated to the MC. But I'll have to walk under those damn U.T. flags to do it!...The sacrifices I make.

Burger Alert - had lunch today at "BJ's" on Beltline in Addison. I had their "BJ's Burger" and it was quite good. It's a bit non-traditional as it is served on more of a hoagie than a normal bun, but the flavor of the meat was excellent.
