I agree....this forum is about to put me on antidepressant! We get a 17-0 shutout (which making the missed field goals and not holding back at the end would have made it 33-0), in El Paso, with several players suffering from Montezuma's Revenge, and it's still not good enough. The Offense looked much improved and moved the ball. WR's caught the ball and GG made some great passes. We have probably the best D in the Conference getting another shutout while missing key players due to injuries!
Unless you were there watching the game it would be hard to see the positive improvements....This was a much needed win at a hard place to win, and will help tremendously with confidence of GG & WR's....Got to work on Hovers confience now!

It's exciting when your offense scores 10 points and gets shutout itself the last 35 minutes of the game!

PonySnob, I agree with you but on the other hand they won and who knows maybe the offense is starting to get it going. They started to move the ball a little better but they also still sputtered like you said the entire second half. The good news, the receivers are starting to catch the ball. I just wish JJ would change it up a little bit but I know that will not happen.

Had the O been on track and scoring a gazillion points, then we wouldn't have gotten the shutout. We would have been so far ahead that our 2nd and 3rd team D players would have been in there. They would have made learning mistakes and UTEP would make the most of it and score. So the D needs to thank the O for their measured approach to scoring so the first team could play and preserve the shutout.

ponyte,
maybe JJ is changing things up,a ball control offense, we just don't realize it.

And we all know, KNOW, that if the above had happened, we would all be whining about the D not being able to hold the shutout.

IIRC it was smaller junes first year when it was about 5 of us + players families. That was when ES was suspended and one of our juco db's who said " I don't get burned. Period" got burned all night.

If you saw the game you may have noticed the D played with reserves at safety for Smith, corner for Parks, linebacker for Rogers, Sanders, and Joyner late in the game.
