Mrydel - you are always welcome at my tent. And I don't consider it mooching.
Thanks. Can I bring jtstang?

Yes you can, but I only have one chair, so you will have to figure out the seating arrangements!

That's a no brainer.

Special Delivery will be on the SMU BLVD for the Fall 2007 Season
if we have to take a second job bussing tables at Campisi's!
With that said...it would seem like a jump from $80 to $250 this
year, then $350 the next year and $450 the following year as
the team gets better may have been a more appropriate way to
go about this. People can understand a "stair-step" but this is
a huge jump. I wonder if they would consider a pre-pay plan
where you could pay X-amount up front and lock in a slightly
discounted BLVD price for 3 or 5 years?
In today's world $80 for an entire BLVD season was probably
too cheap. Of course "supply & demand" is at play. If they can
sell all the BLVD spots at the higher rate, then I suppose they
will do that to raise much needed money. Orsini is looking for
funds anywhere and everywhere to take the program to the
next level.
I think what may end up happening if the program takes
off like we all want is there will be a Free Tailgate area
in a less desirable location, but those that want the special
sweet spots on the BLVD are going to be forced to pay.
One thing that I really, really, really hope does not happen is
that all the BLVD spots are snatched up by the wealthy donors that
don't show up and take pride in their BLVD spot. This is already
happening to some degree where all the parking spots were sold
but many BLVD spots were vacant spaces with no one present.
That is a very sad situation at basketball games where half
of the lower section in moody is empty because all those
best seats are bought up by wealthy donors that don't show
up at games. It will be sad if there are a lot less tents on
the BLVD because many of the "old faithful" balk at the new
prices and the people that buy those spots don't take the
same active roll on creating the BLVD atmosphere.
I wish there was some way with the BLVD and the lower
seating at basketball games where somehow you were
required to show up....but I guess there is no way to
do that.
So yes Bus, Mrydel, and others you guys are always welcome
at the Special Delivery BLVD tent. Of course we already have
quite alot of stuff on our space so people are welcome but we
won't have room for more stuff like tables/grills/chairs/ect...
Whatever you guys decide will be great....you're very welcome
at at the Special Delivery tent for brats & beer....but I
think you should take a deep breath....think about it....and
consider the enjoyment you get from the BLVD. Maybe pool
funds and still get your old spot?.......Get creative!
Bus + Mrydel + John = to cover new price.
If this program takes off like I think it will with Orsini at the
helm the BLVD is going to be THE PLACE TO BE!

It's okay, I never paid to party on the 'vard, and at these prices, I guess I never will. I'll be at the law school tent, or in mrydel's seats. Stop by and say hello.

I this renewal just for people who have a spot on the Boulevard? I walk down it every now and then but don't have a reserved spot there. Where do you and LB hang out?

Maybe we can E-Bay our boulevard spots to Tech fans to pay for the rest of the season.
This thing is starting to cut into the deer lease funds!

Very well put, Special Delivery.
Like you, my group will be out there this fall (not sure how I am going to break the news of the price increase to my guys yet, but they will suck it up).
As I said before, my big fear is that the Boulevard turns into a elitist club that is not utilized. I hope this does not happen.
I also extend an invite to anyone to come by my tent and join us.

I have compared this year to last year's form and map. If you had an umbrella tent on Bishop north of Binkley, your costs are not going up as far as I can tell.
All they have done is taken the open tailgating area on Bishop South of Binkley and converted it to reserved tailgaiting with parking. And are now charging you a premium for it.
There has always been some confusion about that area anyway. The written policies on the website contradict what is printed on the parking passes. Some have viewed that area as a general tailgaiting area surrounded by parking; i.e. first come first serve. Others, usually the owners of the parking spaces, believe the boulevard area immediately adjacent to a parking spot was part of their deal with the University. Most that hold the view that the Boulevard was open to everyone had the common courtesy to give the area immediately adjacent to a parking spot to the owner of the spot.
BrianT, his brother and I hold the view that most of that area was open and often set up there when we tailgaited. For us, tailgating was more of a last minute decision. BrianT and I have kids; his brother flies for a living. Setting up our schedule months in advance is a little difficult.
The key issue for me is the Boulevard is the best thing SMU has going and it needs to be used. To the extent this discourages people who treated it just as convenient parking, I say "Good. Get a parking spot someplace else." To the extent it prices people that would be there on gameday out, this policy is a complete disaster.

Great to see the blogster back in action. Why can't SMU have an Undie Run? I'd make a great spectator.

I finally got around to logging in again after a few month break, and low and behold, the most talked about issue on the board is the same as what is being discussed at my house. This does not happen often.
My group been on the boulevard since the beginning and I think most people probably recognize our tent, or more likely our car. We actually moved up to two spots last year (and they made us increase our Mustang Club gift) and now we aren't so sure we are going to keep both.
The new idea is to pay for the boulevard spot and for a spot on the nonalcholic tailgating area. It is right across from our boulevard spot, so we would have parking for two cars right next to each other, and save alot of money. I think some others could consider this.
Yes I am pissed about this. Yes it will most likely cut back on the cowbells (which will make some of you happy), but lets be honest, most of us on the boulevard love it, spend alot already on every game, and will probably come up with the cash to stay. The more I think about it, the more I am pretty sure the boulevard wont change much.
This is just going to give us something to complain about other than the football team
