LEAVE MACK BROWN ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Texas has lost only seven road games in Mack Brown's nine-year tenure with two of them coming in his first three games at UT. The Longhorns have won 29 of their last 31 true road games. The only losses during that stretch were a 42-38 shootout at Texas Tech in 2002 and a 45-42 defeat at Kansas State. The Horns set a UT-record streak with 17 consecutive road wins before falling to Kansas State in 2006. UT also won 12 consecutive road games from 2000-02. Texas is 34-7 (.829) overall on the road and 29-4 (.879) versus unranked road foes during the Mack Brown era. Texas has won 22 of its last 24 Big 12 Conference road games. The Horns are 26-4 (.867) in league road contests under Mack Brown. UT was 2-5 in Big 12 road games prior to Brown's arrival in 1998.

A lot of the ripping on Mack Brown is for the most part worthless and done out of jealousy.
The guy wins a national title and people still think he's awful. They backed off in 2005 and then tried to minimize that title because of VY and said well, Mack was lucky he got VY and whatever garbage they could throw out there.
Think there's about 118 other DI coaches who would have given their first born to have that kid.

What I love is...
...how people claim Nick Saban and Pete Carroll are the greatest coaches out there.
Mack's Texas team beat Saban's LSU team in the 2002(?) Cotton Bowl.
Mack's Texas team beat Carroll's USC team in the 2006 National Title game.
He's also 1-1 vs. Jim Tressel, 1-0 vs. Lloyd Carr
I know he's 3-6 vs. Bob Stoops, but he owns A&M (8-2?).
When he retires from UT -- and he will leave on his terms -- his status will rival Darrell Royal. Count on it.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but one on one game comparisons is pretty weak sauce when it comes to comparing coaching abilities.
Jim Harbaugh is 1-0 against Pete Carroll
David Bailiff is 1-0 against Jeff Bower
and I'm sure I could go on.

I realize that, but the point is people think he's clueless and they couldn't be more wrong.

Well yes, saying Mack Brown is clueless is just as clueless.

Mack Brown is not a great coach. Texas won the championship because Vince ran the offense. Mack Brown should be AD.

So the Coach with the best Winning Percentage in NCAA Football over the last 11 years can't Coach. Does this finally end the Recruiting is more important than Coaching debate? You can't have it both ways. Firephil knows a lot about College Football-he organized the Great Boycott The Boulevard Campaign before the great 2004 Nevada Game.

You cannot make that comparison, Stallion. Texas' schedule is invariably weaker than many other teams year in and year out. Texas plays in what is probably the 4th strongest conference & the non-conf games are generally weak with the exception of maybe 1 per year. There are much better coaches who play MUCH harder schedules (SEC, etc.). Beyond that, yes, Texas' talent wins them a few games despite the coaching. The only time they have been legit on a national level since 2001 was when Vince ran the offense. You cannot deny that they are back to the same nonsense they ran under Simms.
Also, just to be clear. I had nothing to do with the Boycott the Boulevard deal. I actually spent the entire pregame on the BLVD, thus boycotting the boycot. But your argument that I was a student during that time makes me lack knowledge of football - Now that's a valid point... if you say so..

FirePhil:
"Hours after the festivities began, we made the long journey to Ford Stadium - on a Getty Up golf cart, of course - just in time for the 2nd Q."
Apparently you have forgotten more about the Great 2004 Nevada Boycott the Boulevard Campaign than Phil Bennett ever knew.

That is a great example of you taking a quote out of context to help make your point. Please dont put words in my mouth. If you want to quote me, use it in context.
