Being a Michigander instead of a Texan, my list would not include some of the mainstays listed above (not having lived in Texas outside of my school years I don't have to deal with the common UT gripes, for example):

1.) Ohio State - with the fury of a thousand suns! (native Michigan hate multiplied by having been stationed in Dayton for 5 of the last 7 years).
2.) Notre Dame
3.) TCU
4.) Penn State
5.) Texas A&M (I can't say why on a rational level, but as someone on active duty in the military, the whole "corp of cadets" thing/culture really irritates me to no end).

With all do 'unrespect' to Michiganstang.
I grew up in Ohio with relatives in Michigan. Nice place to visit- too bad they never learned to play football (haha).
1) Michigan - they are only blue because they can't beat the BUCKEYES!!
2) tie between Texas and the 'Iggies' - can't stand either of them
3) USC - never knew Trojans were for football
4) Notre Dame
5) TCU

GO PONIES!!!!

My Five:

1) Frogs - really dislike them - but they already got the raw end of everything - school colors(heinous), city (yawn) , campus (its ugly), co-eds (over rated), academics (still poor, sorry toadies). So I guess I should pity them - but I cant.
2) Ohio State - No good reason other then their fans are jerks and they are never as good as they think they are because their conference sucks.
3) Houston - also a pity candidate. I hate them because we have fallen to where we have to worry about playing this level of school and team.
4) UNT - see 3 above.
5) Penn State - left over from when we won the national championship but they gave it to coach "over rated, high water pants, coke bottle glass wearing, dufus" because he hung around long enough to make all the sprtswriters feel sorry for him.

Normally Notre Dame would be on this list but they have fallen into the pity category.

1. TCU (they act like their [deleted] doesn't stink, and yet they've only had success on the field for the last few years)
2. Tech (Mike Leach)
3. Rice (because I absolutely hate losing to them)
4. Ohio State (given that I am a Michigan Native)
5. Duke (because I grew up in North Carolina and a fan of UNC)

It's hard to believe that a couple of folks have the Rice Owls and NTS on the list? I agree with the one poster on hating to lose to frikin' Rice, it is just something that should not happen. The NTS thing, is probably because you have let their "obssessed with SMU fans," get under your skin. Before the DP, SMU beat TCU 15 years in a row, and Rice 10 in a row. SMU's record with NTS is 28-4-1, with 2 of their wins coming post DP. Now that SMU has FINALLY decided to pull it's head out of it's arse, and play hardball again, it shouldn't be long before things get back to the way they should be.

When we win 10 games a year and 10 in a row against the Big 12 let's see how we all act. I for one will certainly act like it doesn't stink the second we hit 7 wins in a single year.

And you all should do the same.

Why? Because we back up our attitude with results on the field? I'd see where you'd have an argument if we were, say, Notre Dame who hasn't competed for jack in the last decade yet still considers themselves one of the elite programs. That's nice and all, but I care about what you're doing now.

10 bowls (and 1 MNC) and 10 trips to the Big Dance (1 Final 4, 5 Sweet 16) in the Mack Brown/Rick Barnes era. Why wouldn't we be a little confident?

Anyway, I love the hate. It's wholesome and nurturing. Hopefully after Jones has had a few years to groom his own team our two schools can play each other again.

LF68, what is going on with your board? Some sort of civil war between longhorn factions?

Always thought it was a well run board.

Why?

First of all, I'm old and I went to SMU during the Pony Express era so I hate UT on general principle. And I tire of seeing burnt orange Bevo stuff in every store that I go into. And I think the UT arrogance extends far beyond athletic endeavors. And don't even get me started on how lucky UT was to beat USC. And Mack Brown makes me want to hurl.

But having said all of that, I appreciate you, LF68. :D

And if I don't live long enough to see SMU beat the crap out of UT again, I have at least seen it in the past.
