I've made that clear 1000 times. SMU can't fire another hoops coach early. They are better going long then short."
You continue to spin and attack without actually taking a second to listen. I've never said I hated Doh. NEVER. I've said I hate the results. You state to care about repairing SMUs rep within the industry circles, yet the 100% assistant turnover, horrible recruiting errors, and constant losing are FAR more damaging then whether or not we let go of our head coach after year 5 instead of year 4. At this point we would be best served cutting our losses...obviously that is not going to happen this summer but it doesn't mean I or anyone else should be content with this programs continued blunders and utter mismanagement under Doh's direction. The best way to repair our reputation is to WIN genius.
LOL, don't waste your breathe telling a basketball industry guy how to repair SMUs rep in the basketball community. That's pretty rich even for you, moody, seeing as you actually have no idea how the SMU job is perceived in coaching circles, or the industry in general. What you just did was make stuff up on a message board, based on nothing first hand, or any actual expertise. I applaud you.
Staff turnover, recruiting errors , and losing have nothing to do w/this programs rep in the industry. That's all stuff fans point to, and get frustrated by, but they are irrelevant to the schools ceiling in industry terms. Take a macro perspective, micro man. What is relevant is that administration, boosters and alum, show support and patience. Did you guys forget that we self-reported, to can a minority coach, at a rich, white, private school? On top of that, it looks like he was thrown under the bus, so we could bring in a primadonna, wealthy, Park Cities hire, that looks a little more like the student body. That's cowardly in ways that can't be expressed, smacks of race, and IS blackball worthy in almost every major hoops market in America.
You want real coaching talent, show patience w/this coach, and then show the next one real money. Pay 1 mill per, not a 450k-600k w/ no shoe, tv/radio or real camp money. You can't WIN w/o attracting the proper bench talent for the position & university. You can't attract proper bench talent w/o coin and some administrative assurances.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
