I am sure you are correct; however, you have limited you audience and national appeal to only a very limited already existing alum market only. I think as time goes by they lose their national appeal, do not develop new fans and their brand becomes somewhat limited and regionalized.

Every indication from ESPN is that thus far it has been an absolute disaster. Low subsriber numbers, low ratings, and poor advertising revenue. It was a financial windfall for the University of Texas, but ESPN has taken a bath on that POS.

Its only 1 or 2 games-but I kind of agree to that extent.

You're talking about a finite audience. If ESPN can't jam this thing down cable network's throats, that means they miscalculated the market. There isn't the national appeal that ESPN thought there was because Texas t-shirt fans aren't into what the volleyball or baseball teams are doing.

Look at YES. We're talking about the New York Yankees, arguably the most recognizable sports organization in the world. And they knew blowing it open nationwide was likely not the way to go.

Look at their website. The furthest YES goes is into Scranton-Wilkes Barre PA. -- and that's only because the Yankees' AAA farm team is there.

IMO, this Longhorn Network should have started in the greater Austin area and maybe go as far out as San Antonio and see what kind of response it gets and then expand if the demand followed. This is what happens when ESPN thinks it knows everything and then leads with its chin before it gets it smacked.

This thread makes me very happy.

I wish you guys would just embrace the Superfriends conference. Cougar has shown that you can play a dogcrap schedule and make it to Autobid status...so has Boise...so has Hawaii...so has TCU. The Big East will fall off the map...CUSA will pick up Cinn and USF and the conference will get its own new TV deal.

The MWC/CUSA game will all of a sudden be a really big deal with Boise on one side and whoever CUSA has on the other side.

The AQ is gone after a 7-5 Louisville team (that lost to Marshall bTw) goes to the Orange Bowl.

Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier
