I know B'Ham is an "easy" trip, but I'm a recent grad, and I've already expended my travel budget. I had assumed we were playing in Dallas or Hawaii.
Most are probably flying. Hope you can catch a ride somehow. Maybe check on the Facebook pages for SMU Mustangs or Red and Blue Army.
Free Airport Shuttle and Free game day transportation at the Sheraton.

Not sure what type of suite you booked, but the Sheraton has a great fan rate and offer shuttle to the game.

Am I mistaken in my understanding, but is this hotel a little bit away from the game site? I'm trying minimize the distance from hotel to the game since I don't plan on driving. Eyeballing it, maybe 10-15 minutes from the game?
Sheraton offer free shuttle to the game and is the official team hotel. Great fan rate here

JasonB wrote:Is the mustang club travel package worth doing? Seems double the cost of just independantly getting a reservation at that hotel.
Also, any chance the mustang club puts together a package that includes air?
NO

I stayed at the Renaissance at Ross Bridge about four years ago. Very nice hotel, I would recommend it. About 15 min. drive to the stadium if memory serves correct.

Go with the Sheraton if you want a hotel that is close to all the Bowl events, go with Ross Bridge if you coming to play golf.

Wow womack...you really like the Sheraton eh? Just kidding. Thanks for the info. I got the large king suite, whatever that means. I like the ability to have the inevitable straggler buddy crash in the living area if need be. If that doesn't happen, I'm happy to have a nice room. Plus I can bring interesting people I may meet at the rooftop bar back to the room and maybe the suite will impress them enough to have sex with me.
I did not see any suites available at the Sheraton for the bowl dates.

Only in Bermingham does a suite at the Sheraton get this done...

I agree. I stayed there last month and it was absolutely gorgeous -- golf was fantastic.
I would say that it's hands down the best property in the Birmingham metro area.

I work for a Marriott Hotel, SpringHill Suites Birmingham/Colonnade (the hotel is 3 years old and all of the rooms are studio suites) which is located about 10 minutes from the stadium and within 1/2 mile of The Summit, an upscale shopping and dining center. We are offering discounted rates for the BBVA Compass Bowl game. Call (205) 969-8099 to reserve. The rates include breakfast.
