What the [deleted]? Tulane? This is obviously pre-empting an ACC/B12 raid of the Big East. Adios, Louisville and Cincinnati. Hell, USF and UCF may be gone as well.

I just read reports from national College Football reporters that BYU is still in play (they were not offered and didn't reject-still negotiating) and that neither Louisville nor Cincinnati have the votes to get into ACC yet (which has 13 teams right now and could still have Divisional playoff).

So BYU didn't say no? If the Big East can grab them and Fresno, I'd be happy.

The ACC is going after MD for the $50M exit fee that the tried to impose a year ago or so. There are some questions as to whether the Terps - who are financially strapped right now - can afford the fee and the ACC may be holding out hope that they can somehow salvage this relationship; I don't know.

That, and I guarantee you the heads of Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, and some others are looing at each other and asking if UL or UC belong, academically speaking, in the ACC. Frankly, if I was in the ACC, I'd be eyeing Navy - they are arguably the best school in Maryland, brings national interest in TV markets, and would do fine in replacing them in football.

From what I read, it sounded like neither Louisville nor Cincy had the votes to get into the ACC, because the vote was split between the two. I don't think that is much of an indicator of anything, rather both teams are wanted.

And I have a hard time believing BYU wants in now - seeing as the only moves that have been made are negative ones...

I agree with those who ask why add Tulane now? there is no sense of urgency as you can always invite them later.

what this shake-out tells me is that JJ will probably stay another year. Why spend the money to pay him off and more importantly the costs of a new staff, given this uncertainty.

Also reasonable to assume Turner will further slow play IPF, I know I would.

The only reason Tulane makes any sense would be for more TV sets, but Rice seems to be in a much better media market, even with Houston also in the BE. I agree that UTSA makes more sense than Tulane, Tulsa, or Rice for that matter, considering their support and their media market interest. As stated before, UTSA has a lot of interest in their football team because of a Big City with no other local D1 college or pro team.

Tulane was probably added to appease the basketball schools.

Where else can the NBE go for new teams except top of CUSA and MWC after ESPIN decides who's in and who's out of the $big 4$. I hope we get Fresno and keep Boise, SDSU and of course BYU would be nice.

Seriously...in what way does Tulane appease the basketball schools? I honestly don't know.

What's with the atheism tweet at the first post?

This is so sad. Aresco silence surely indicated something negative. This is about as negative as you get. Basically all that has happen is that teams got to become FBS teams and we got ourselves a new name for a conference. So much for relevancy. All we can hope for is that we have 100 SMU loyal CEOs to donate lots of money so it makes tv irrelevant. Lol going to be a great couple of years as our plane comes crashing down.
