Perhaps you could contain yourself in a bottle

And throw it.

And no one is condoning that sort of thing. But it's not like we are being thrust back into the days of terracing where grown men urinated in the pockets of the guy next to them...

I don't believe terracing ever really existed in America. I know that it still exists in Germany, though, with Borussia Dortmund famously having the largest terraced stand in Europe.

Already been done a few years ago. Apparently did not go over well enough to continue. Probably using the same tent for the current corral.
And I think only about 5 people knew what/why the tent was there, terrible marketing. On top of going winless :)

Probably right. I enjoyed it and I knew about it and I am in another state. But that does not mean it was marketed locally. Maybe they were marketing outside in instead of inside out. Got to reach the locals first and then come calling for us on the outside.

It was for season ticket holders only wasnt it ? That would mean about 2000-2500 individuals I suppose.

I enjoyed it, but was offput when it was packed for a quarter and a half one game because everyone wanted to see the Texas Ohio St game.

It was for Mustang Club members but I do not remember the level needed for entry.

That's why I say no TV's for it, make it bigger perhaps, sell tickets for it at $12 bucks, $30 for a big name game. If you have a ticket for an actual seat then free admission. What do yall think?

It's mind boggling to me that SMU hasn't made this happen yet. Since we don't play anyone people care about and the team is mediocre, we should have the absolute best game experience possible. Fix the nasty concessions, sell beer, replace the ancient TVs on the concourse, give Ford a light renovation to get rid of the HS stadium feel...

Best way to make SMU understand something is if you tell them they aren't sucking as much money out of you as humanly possible. Show them that the fans will drink anyways, and SMU simply isn't getting their $$$ and it would probably change over night.

Oliver Luck, AD at WVA, was having the same problem Alyssa was talking about. He changed the policy and allowed Beer sales. His thinking was people were binging so hard before the game that they became unruly and leaving at half time to do so again. Having beer sales slows the tail gating binge.

For what it's worth:

Before the basketball game Saturday, I was talking to a UTEP staffer, and in light of this conversation, I asked him if they sell beer in their football stadium. He said they started selling this year, and they concluded that it had zero effect on attendance.

He also acknowledged that UTEP and SMU are entirely different cases (i.e. UTEP is the only show in town out there for athletics), but he said their data indicated that it didn't affect attendance in the slightest.

I think why the idea of beer in the stadium is resurfacing so much is due to the amount of people that remain on the BLVD during the games.... I think most of us believe that if there were beer in the stadium then they'd go inside to drink and watch the game, rather than sitting in their lawn chairs on watching the game on TV on the BLVD. We can get a good number to show up for gameday, just not in the actual stadium itself. The BLVD is a great gameday atmosphere, so why not bring some of that same atmosphere into the stadium?
