NCAA regulations on Soccer Fields-110-120 yards in length. Width 65-80 yards

NEW FACILITIES have to be at least 115 by 75 yards. There are also footage requirements for stands and sideline coaching/team boxes

I agree I don't think a soccer field would fit there anyway - not to mention trying to keep balls off of Mockingbird. Plus, I would hate to be the keeper facing west during the wrong half for some of those 7pm games in August and September.

I also stand by my argument the default initial response about putting the IPF there (not wanting to "ruin" the Bishop entrance to campus) really doesn't make sense anymore - and getting past that thought process not only brings down the overall cost of an IPF but also makes it independent of any other activities.

I do not have a problem with putting the IPF there, I am sure it could be done in a way that looked just as good as a soccer stadium would anyway. I had not thought about the east/west orientation but that makes sense.

Is the current soccer field not regulation size though? Looking at google maps satellite view there is enough room for it in that spot, so I am not sure what Stallion's concern about it not fitting there is, if the current field is regulation. Of course, that depends on how much space would be needed for the grandstands, etc.

Maybe I will go measure it this weekend.

I still don't see how it fits at Pettus if you think about stands, concessions, restrooms, etc. - although I agree looking at google maps the field just might fit there. I didn't even think it was that close.

Maybe they would have remove the Schlegel Street east of the parking garage entrance and use that space for the various facilities? Still seems like it would have to be east west though.

Plus zoning and safety setbacks from Highland Park due to busy Mockingbird Lane next to a facility with spectators including kids? There would have to be special safety precautions for the frequent crashes on Mockingbird due to distracted drives. Texas has to have regulations restricting structures so close to a busy roadway for the safety of the drivers too.

Sorry, I could not find the part about grandstand in the regulation you posted. Which section is it?

The only thing I saw referring to spectators is the information below:
1.15 Spectator Restraining Line
It is recommended that a rope, fence or some form of demarcation be used to keep spectators a minimum of 20 feet [6.10m] (whenever possible) away from the touch lines and goal lines.
Note: Rule 1.15 is an administrative rule and may be altered by prior written mutual consent

see the Map in the regulation. 10 Ft. Plus don't forget corner kicks unless we are gonna stop trafic for corner kicks. Map has 20 ft of spece for that. Even if they had sideline netting. I could see kicks going far into Mockingbird Lane from the endlines-so what are you going to do net both the South sideline and East and West ends?

What does that have to do with a grandstand? I quoted the section about 20 feet in my previous post, it says a rope would be enough to keep spectators back. I looked through again, I am still not seeing the section about the grandstand you said was in there. Could you direct me to it?

Right, but your post said that the NCAA regulations mentioned grandstand and that is what I was asking about. Sorry for the confusion, it sounds like I misunderstood your post saying the NCAA regulations referenced grandstands.

The Pettus field from inside of fence to inside of opposite fence is approximately 116 yds in both EW and NS directions when measured on NCTCOG DFW Maps ( http://www.dfwmaps.com/ ). Seems a bit too tight to me.
