Come back down to earth and lets hope we somehow pull this one off and lets just cheer on our team instead of making outlandish statements. Did you get raider rash or something? Because you sound like a raider with all those ridiculous and fact ignoring statements.
Is a turd muffin something new that they're now selling at Whole Foods. Must be some kind on super duper bran filled cupcake. But, let's look at the positive.........he didn't call you a stud muffin !

I watched Tech scrimmage when they came to Midland during their spring football practices. I think Michael Brewer could be a stud at QB. If he has the same make up as his dad and grandad he will be very good. Their receivers are very fast.

Mustangsabu wrote:Tech is breaking in a new coach and a new QB. That is not easy. We have experience at key positions and some new elements to our offense. I'm not saying they will suck, but we will beat them. Like we did Fresno.
Red Horse is some nasty brew. Laced with gin, no?

Many say our offense will change greatly thanks to Mumme. Is that not in effect a new coach/offense for our offense?

For some reason Tech is the only group that comes in and acts like totaly turds at Ford. Even the hated froggies usually behave themselves and have fun - but the Tech people carry in huge chips on their shoulders since they know everyone thinks they are idiots, and they just cant have a good time. Compensating for something I guess.

In any event, looking forward to the game. i think it sets up pretty well for us actually - and is definately the easiest of the three Big 12 games for us - if for no other reason in that it is at home and althought we start slow the coaching change at Tech could cause them some issues. They will have a huge talent advantage. Our D is a stength in the secondary, so could be interesting if we can get any pressure.
Tech's admission standards are significantly higher than UH. Just this year UH raised its admission standards to pass UNT. Tech's admission standards are 4th in the Big 12 but that has little affect on USN&WR rankings.

You would give your left nut for SMU to have a fan base as passionate as Tech's.

The classless crowd at tech are mostly the locals, not the students. Tech is the only game in town for a bunch of West Texas rough around the edges types. This bleeds over some to the student culture but they aren't the base.

Based on the 5-6 games I have attended up in Lubbock, this is true. The students are going to be students, does not matter what school you are talking about. The "T-shirt"fans are the idiots, usually.

Although i do wish we had a bigger fan base, if passion leads to the things i have seen idiot tech fans due i am fine right where we are. Rather be small then big and total idiots

Was going to refute that Tech's admission standards were 4th in the big 12, and then realized how bad the conference is in that area. I guess you have UT at the top, then maybe Baylor, then Kansas and then TCU. That would put Tech 5th. I would guess maybe OU is also ahead of Tech, but is that really it? Kansas st - definately not. WVA - nope OSU - no way. What an academic wasteland. Pretty good football though.

Mustangsabu, it's one thing to say that you're going to win. (Which I think SMU has about a 45-55 chance of doing) but it's an entirely different thing to say you're going to win 52-28. This year will determine whether or not JJ's "hidden gem" recruiting strategy works.

You can say stars and recruiting services don't matter and there are cases where they have been wrong, but for the most part, it is highly accurate. This year will make or break JJ's tenure in Dallas and the program as a whole.

Hyperbole much? This season will not "define the program". It may very well go down in flames, but IMO, that would be far better for the longterm health of the program. If SMU hires a young, aggressive coach that surrounds himself with strong recruiters with Texas ties like it has in basketball, then this thing could go places that JJ could never take it. The infrastructure of the SMU football program is 1000000000x better in 2013 than we got JJ in 2007 when no one thought we could get him.

I just worry that the entire game all we will hear is "RAIDER POWER" like the last time Tech came to SMU. I brought friends to that game and they were going on about how bad they felt for the players, along with laughing at me/SMU.
