Don't know what history you are viewing, but SMU has not defeated A&M since the DP. Last time was at Texas Stadium some 30 years ago, I was at that game. Played them close a couple of times 20 years ago, but that's about it.
This century we have played them 3 times, losing by a combined score of 160-25. That equates to an average loss of 53-8 for those that are mathematically challenged.
I said history of "playing them to wire" when they are highly ranked and we are at bottom..
1974 SMU 18-14 winner, Tamu was ranked 4.
1994 we tied them late in year 21-21, Tamu ranked #7, we only won 1 game.
1995 Tamu wins 20-17 on last second 30 yard pass, that had they had review, might not have been TD, and questionable interference on same drive. tamu was ranked #18 we were still early post DP.
Those last 2 games Tamu favored by 36 and 24. tAMU was in middle of 4 year run of SWC Titles.
My point was we have played them tight when we had NOTHING and they were highly ranked.
I know those are not recent, but just showing there is always hope in sports.

we couldn't catch tamu at a worse time. they have dropped to #10 and will be out to prove that they should be ranked much higher. the tamu o will score as many points as they want. if our o is clicking we will score some but not enough to even come close to winning this game. could be a blow-out of historic proportions.
