I'll make you a deal. Each helmet costs $250-$400 depending on what you want (chromed, etc.). Shoot me your email address and I'll send you a pledge card for $40,000 ($400 x 100 helmets) and we'll get them ready.
In all seriousness, they are expensive, but something I'm sure we'll explore in the future.
Appreciate everyone's passion for SMU. You guys are awesome.
SID help me with this. TCU has at least five separate helmets that they've worn the last two years. Do you mean to tell me that TCU is able to spend +$200,000 on helmets but SMU can't spend $80,000? I'm also surprised that SMU would pay Nike full price for special helmets. They don't do these things for their clients at a discount or free? I'm very surprised. I'd make me all the more impressed with TCU's commitment to big-time football knowing that they dropped +$500,000 on jerseys. I thought they were gifts from Nike.

TCU has a lot more revenue than SMU. With all of our needs, I think its a waste of money unless someone wants to write a check. Our classic helmet is better than all 5 TCU helmets put together.

The current helmet is very similar to the mid 70s to mid 80s helmet. The big difference is the width of the strips. I can live with the current helmets and the 80's blue jerseys.

SID's been feisty lately. But ok, sounds like a reasonable deal, even though I'm a little surprised to be paying full retail. My email is [email protected]. Just send it over and we'll get the ball rolling

Sometimes I just wonder how some people can be so clueless. Big 12 money for TCU is now probably 10-15x what we are getting in conference revenue. Comparisons to any big 12 school considering any budget issue is officially silly. Does anyone in AAC or MWC spend more than we do on our program? I can tell you the answer is no.

And TCU had those separate helmets before they went into the Big 12. Good question.
