Based on Ed Feng's statistical analysis: "SMU at Memphis.
Memphis (93) will beat SMU (92) by 2.7 at home. SMU has a 44% chance of beating Memphis."

The Power Rank uses analytics to make predictions on sports.

These predictions are based on the team rankings, which take margin of victory in games and adjusts for strength of schedule. The algorithm behind these adjustments comes from years of research in statistical physics and applied mathematics.

College Football By the Numbers has us losing by 10 to Memphis 24-14.

Football Frontier has Memphis ranked 28 places higher than us, 102 vs. 74.

Lol when Memphis has TCU, TTU and TAMU with rutg as their schedule...then i'll beloeve those bs stats and "predictions"!!

We will NOT play a tougher defense than TCU and we still put up 17 points on a mediocre offensive performance. I like the prediction of 41-17 SMU taking it big on the road!

If we lose to Memphis then the cat is really out of the bag.

Them being a top defense nationally has translated to 1-4...same as our being 7th in passing yards...all smoke and mirrors. I pick SMU BIG vs Memphis 48-17

I can appreciate Memphis being improved. They have played NO ONE, except they played well against a good UCF. We need two big blowout wins in a row to have any chance whatsoever of at least having a decent season (bottom of the barrel bowl). Saying if that didn't happen I'd be be extremely disappointed, would be an understatement.

They have to figure a way to win. They have been in some games and have a chance in some future games but they have to find a way to win these close games instead of finding a way to lose such as giving up 3rd and 25 tds in ot. Doesn't do any good for the receivers to lead the nation and qb to throw for 600 yards if you lose. Usually a team can make up that difference with special teams and turnovers...blocked kick or punt, turnover sometimes just 1 play! A fiery, motivational coach can sometimes make the difference instead of one that looks like he just woke up from his nap and keeps looking at the clock to see if he is on schedule for his dinner plans.

You had to mention that OT 3rd and 24 TD! I had just about gotten that out of my mind! How on EARTH do we let that happen? No completion and we win the game.

Phil Bennet once said there are no plays for 3rd & 20 for first downs, etc. That being said, teams seem to convert those long distances against us on a regular basis. However, Phil did forget a lot if football.........
