Bush league. We've always seemed to be that way in our marketing efforts since I've been around SMU (about 30 years). Red helmets?!? Where the hell did that come from? The pony should always be red on white. Makes no sense what they are doing. Completely idiotic.

And, if any college team is going to honor our vets with a red, white, and blue uniform, it should be US -- they ARE our colors after all. All we have to do is wear our colors and then there you go.

We certainly have quite a history with the red helmets............

yes our red on red look was real big during the Radio era. Kern Tipps loved them. Let's be one of half the teams in the NCAA to wear red and better yet make it a boring shade of red and jack up the red with some big funky white collar stripes.

Isn't the whole point of this with the RED/Crimson helmets is a 'modified retro' look? Good for SMU & long, long overdue!!!

If you want the funky $%$## BS stuff, that's for another day & dollar.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the team voted to wear the Blue throw back jerseys for the UConn game. June stated Thursday it sounded like to him the players were leaning towards the Red jerseys. Sorry June.

Well this is the good news. I think it will look good. Just wish it had been done differently.

The blue jerseys will look good with the red hats!!!

Red helmets/blue jerseys isn't the worst look. Looking forward to seeing it (and an SMU win)

I don't know. This is just an opinion, and I admit I have no fashion sense whatsoever, but I think a white pony on a red helmet looks like something a little kid would wear in the 60s when they got a "play uniform" from Huffy for Christmas (I got a Cowboys one then but that's different . . . that one was the bomb yo.)

Anyway, I guess I should reserve judgment until I see them, but it all sounds pretty typical - half [deleted], bush league marketing. I like that all white clean look (white helmets/pants/jersey with the blue stripes and a little bit of red for accent) and then of course the blue jerseys for home games (and everything else the same) -- pretty much as the images that have been displayed on here before (those should just be sent to Hart and say "make it so -- this is, by far, the consensus look ponyfans/alums want to see").

Hart stated that we're looking in to adding an alternative helmet for 2014 -->. Maybe this is a cost effective way to roll out a potential alternate helmet and gauge the reaction on it before dialing up our shoe company sponsor and dropping a huge chunk of change.

Besides, we've been [deleted] about new uniforms for so long, why don't we wait until we actually see them before dropping napalm on the Department. It's not like the world is going to stop spinning for good or for bad based on our hats against a garbage conference opponent in the middle of November with about 15 people in the stands during a down year.

If it means dumping the red jerseys, I would agree to have the team take the field in a Plano Wildcat plain white helmet complete with Roger Stauback 2-bar face masks (lineman get the T-Bar attachment).

SMU needs to hire the ponyfans poster that actually made those awesome mock ups. Beat down Nike's door with these things and just get it done.

Couldn't agree more. Who came up with those originally? I think it was a couple years ago. They're awesome.

Seriously, SMU, we've already got the uniforms designed. Just send them to Nike and have them printed.

Wear the throwback one for Homecoming, and make the Pony on the helmet an American flag for Veteran's Day weekend. Done.
