you are wrong there mr Big T3 - he will be drafted. It will be late, but he has too much skill to be passed up.

Yep. No way they draft a QB of prototype size, the arm strength to make every throw on the field, and can move around well in the pocket.BigT3x wrote:GG is not going to be drafted.ponyboy wrote:Like Garrett Gilbert who was washed up and done and is now looking at being a probable NFL draft pick? I think they would have drafted him late even without the season he had because of his measurables.
With the year he had, I don't think there is any way he doesn't get drafted.

I think it will depend on how many qb's enter the 'market'. I would hope he would get drafted but would be surprised if it was higher than some of the last rounds.

This is essentially what I said earlier in the season. Frankly, I can seriously. See June refuse to sign even a paper extension because he is an A hole.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If you're him, why would you? It's obvious he doesn't want to be here, he should force SMU's hand to pay him the $2M for 2014 and head back to the islandsDooby wrote:This is essentially what I said earlier in the season. I had forgotten that June sued Hawaii after quitting because he said that he and his assistants were due salary through May 2009 because he had "completed his 5 year contract by finishing the football season" while Hawaii said he had to finish school year. It was finally settled but it does show that even after quitting he actually sued Hawaii. The Hawaii newspaper columnist wrote an article last week saying that bad blood between both sides means June will never coach at Hawaii again. Looking back it makes perfect sense that June didn't think he had any employment duties from January through May since that's vacation time. Hasn't a similar issue been raised at SMU about assistant salaries through the end of spring. Somebody brought that up somewhere

Wonder if they will portray that scene in "Born in June"

Our talent may be improving but Josh McCown is doing better than any June QB. What a strange world.

Is it possible that our MEDIAN player is better but our AVERAGE player is not? Better athletes all around but fewer really good athletes? Bennett's teams were weak but look how many are in the NFL or were high performers like Willis?Webmaster wrote:I know you guys are probably sick of me going on like a broken record, but I do go to practices (not as much as PonyPride, but I do go) and I've been covering the Ponies in one capacity or another since the early '90s. The rumors that this team is devoid of talent is simply incorrect. To my eye, the team is bigger, faster and more athletic than any we've had since the Death Penalty. It is obvious to me that we are recruiting a different type of athlete.
I saw the cluster on the O line coming years ago when it seemed like every other kid we were offering was a slot receiver and not somebody BUS could get excited about. I point a finger at the fact that most of our starters aren't upperclassmen. What is the reason for that (rhetorical question)?

I tried to google the lawsuit. All I could find was that Hawaii sued JJ, staff and SMU for $400k because they interpreted the contract to run through the school year, not the football schedule. I'm assuming JJ's lawsuit was a counter suit. Can you post a link to the article?Stallion wrote:I had forgotten that June sued Hawaii after quitting because he said that he and his assistants were due salary through May 2009 because he had "completed his 5 year contract by finishing the football season" while Hawaii said he had to finish school year. In respect to how talented this team is. Talent is a relative term. Everyone playing division I football has some level of talent. We have some very talented players, but on average we are not that talented relative to top fifty football teams. We have too many holes and not enough quality depth to beat good teams. What would our team look like if you removed the top five players from the team. we'd likely be winless. A talented football team is more than five or six really good players.

This was the post on Hawaii (Scout) that reminded me of the lawsuit and our discussions on ponyfans-looks like Hawaii did file the lawsuit;stc9 wrote:I tried to google the lawsuit. According to Tsai, who was just on the Animals 10 minutes ago, said that he is not coming back. Also on his blog, see post #84.
Stephen Tsai:

JJ is not coming back.
Like I said a couple of weeks ago, he's really pissed UH sued him.
Here's the math on that:
• JJ's contract was on the fiscal year, which meant it ran through June 30.
• His argument was that he fulfilled the terms of the five-year contract by coaching five seasons (with 2007 being the fifth season).
• UH's contention was JJ completed only 4.5 years because he left before the start of the 2008 spring semester. UH claimed JJ owed the balance of his contract, which was $400,000.
• JJ's agent noted that he was paid $400,000 for the 2007 season. If JJ had to pay back $400,000, that would mean he worked the 2007 season for free.
* They reached an agreement in which he $200,000 was paid back, with $100,000 earmarked for a scholarship.
And there's the back story.

I really hoped I was wrong kris. This is a terrible move and I have zero faith in SMU football moving forward.
I guess SMU really is a basketball school now. Ugh
