It's ok, we're taking one who's currently committed to a P5 program. Stay tuned....

My anonymous frat buddy says the coke he scored from the third ward was terrible. 1 out of 5 stars only because there was no zero star on RateMyDealer.com

Up to #39 nationally, best in the AAC and the best G5 school in the nation. I realize this is skewed because we have more commits than a lot of other schools but still cool to see. Chad and company are doing an awesome job. We also have a lot of 5.4 2 star commits (the highest rating for a 2-star prospect) who may get bumped up during their senior year.

Best in the AAC and best G5 school. Rofl- those are some bold claims.

Those rankings aren't skewed. They're invalid.

Yeah, you're right, our recruiting sucks.

I realize we will fall somewhere in the 50-70 range by NSD, but it's still cool seeing us up there now and it's a lot better than some finish in the 90s under June

SMU is currently #44 on rivals 2016 recruiting ranks

If you read the method of scoring, the rating is not bad at all. The scoring specifically says that # of stars is not considered but rather the level of the rating. For example, a 5.4 2 star gets more points than a 5.2 2 star. So if you are going to use this system, you have to ignore the star rating and pay attention to the level of the ranking. Or you could just hang your head and moan I guess.

Number of commits will skew it however.

Well said, mrydel. 12 of our 15 2-star commits are rated 5.4- meaning they're right on the cusp of being a 3-star and likely would have been 3-stars in previous years. Stallion has pointed out many times how Rivals has decreased the number of 3-star recruits in recent years.

And then you have a guy like Kadarius Smith who had an offer from Tech and is a 5.3 2-star

That's not what he said, he simply challenged your claim.

You qualified it, but still, when I looked at average star per commit rating for Mt. West & AAC, there are 22 schools in total and only 1 in the Mt. West has a lower average (Wyoming) & only 2 in the AAC (Memphis & Tulsa). Also, there are 4 schools in CUSA with higher averages.

Now I suspect that relatively speaking the higher ranked players have already committed so the average star per commit rating will drop going forward, but still, by any reasonable measure we are currently not a top G5 class.

Best analogy I can come up with. Election results show Herman Cain leads Hillary Clinton in the state of California!!! Why you ask?, because the only votes counted so far are from Newport Beach. SF & LA votes come in later.

Still love this coaching staff.

I would like to see an additional column 'Total Score/# of commits.'

Even by that metric I doubt we'd have a top G5 class.

Whatever the avg. star/number rating is, this is the most recruiting momentum I can remember ever (reference being 2000 on) having. I don't feel like Bennett in his best year had this kind of momentum with Texas top 300 players.

I am going to trust that HCCM knows what he is looking for in these young men when he offers them.
