Im okay with coaches leaving prior to bowl games so long as there is enough time for the new coach to get a "baptism by fire". It will obviously put the win in jeopardy but oh well rather start the building process now than later. We aren't playing for winner gets 20% more than loser and even if it was the case, not material. Just hope Rick Hart is calling the next coach, "You have the job, can you be here tomorrow to start practicing with the team".

Any coach that would need to be TOLD such things has done so little research, we might not want him.

I think he will tell him he can get 2.2 million a year getting 7-8 wins wins in an average conference and jump up to 4-5 millions in three to four years.

The impact of fans is grossly overrated - these guys just want to keep moving up the ladder.

Exactly! They are mostly all mercenaries, so use them while they use you and don't take anything personal or be naive into thinking that the one you have is any different. I have hopes that Jankovich is here to stay but realistically won't hold my breath when he wins enough and a blue blood comes calling.

Chad was making about 250K as an OC at Tulsa. Thanks to SMU he and his family are about to financially secure for life. He will tell other coaches that the SMU job allowed him to prove he was a capable college HC and elevated him to a P5 job in the SEC.

I don't post here much anymore b/c it is inmates running the asylum but its nice to see Battered Pony Syndrome is alive and well over here.

Dan Enos would be a good consideration. Was formerly a head coach at Central Michigan and has been OC at Arkansas. Runs a good offense if he has the right personnel. Lack of a decent OL did him in this year. He could do well with our current offense.

He'd tell him come make 2.5M a year with no state income tax, little pressure to win, can recruit all he needs and never sleep in a different bed, play the likes of North Texas and Tulane every year, and have one of the largest football budgets in your conference.
There is 7-8 starters coming back on both sides of the ball, including a two year starter at QB, TWO potential AA wide receivers, a stable of running backs, and possibly an answer at LB in the form of a transfer - and a solid punter. All he has to do is find some DL's and a damned kicker and he's going to a bowl next year.
Now, honestly - what hungry coach wouldn't at least take a phone call?

I dont know guys. There's no real great candidate so maybe we should tryout the "Guest Conductor" that basketball has for "Guest Coach" on the bowl game. If you win, you get a 1 yr contract but requires $10k donation upfront.

When someone I know and trust says ΓÇ£they donΓÇÖt keep their wordΓÇ¥ I do not take the call. Now I do not know if that is true, but I would guess Venables has plenty of options that would not have that issue if it does exist.

According to DMN:

The candidates are:
1) Joe Craddock (gone with CM I would bet)
2) Sonny Cumbie
3) Sonny Dykes
4) Todd Graham
5) Kevin Sumlin
6) Jeff Traylor (same concerns as everyone else)

I thought the recommendation from others to go after Les Miles seem pretty good. I feel like that would have a "Larry Brown" effect as well.
