Truth: Name 1 commitment that SMU didn't admit--there were no substantial signees that weren't admitted or decommitted in 2014 because of ACADEMICS. You are promoting an Urban Legend that hurts our reputation in recruiting because its nonsense. Billy Embody has just recently unequivocally corrected the Arkansas fan base about that nonsense. We are on a competitive even playing field with our natural and traditional rivals. The new NCAA admission standards made this a complete non-issue

Lie No. 2: "Over my dead back will our athletes have more assistance than our average student."

Truth: We've had multiple reports on Ponyfans alone from Student Athletes that describe substantial assistance from tutors and academic support in Hughes/Trigg that goes substantially above the support given to the average student. SMU's dismal performance under Jones has improved every year and now the football team's GPA is the highest in history. 2 Academic All-Americans to boot

Lie No. 3: "Remember how we were all told that Simmons would be able to accommodate things like general studies, coaching, a career path in education that would be friendly to athletes?"

Truth: The vast majority of the Basketball team and a high number of the Football team are majoring in Sports Management or Applied Physiology (just another name for the more common Kinesiology at other school) in the Simmons School of Education which probably cost the university in excess of $50 Million for 2 new buildings, infrastructure and new professors. That is a promise kept at great cost to the university. More student/athletes major at the Simmons School of Education than any other school in the university. No reputable school has a major in general education or coaching. In Texas you can't get a teacher's certificate in those majors.

Lie No. 4: "Like Chad he was also promised an IPF"

Truth: Unlike Herman at UH the same agent-considered the No. 1 agent in College Football- didn't negotiate an IPF in Morris' contract with SMU which is the agreement between the university and coach. Morris is not a dumbass-he knew the university wasn't paying for it out of operating revenue or the endowment. From Day 1 it was understood that funding for an IPF would need to come from donations from alumni which needed to be at least 80% of the construction costs JUST LIKE AT EVERY OTHER IPF that has been funded at similar schools like Baylor and TCU. I've posted links showing those facilities were both fully funded by alumni donations BEFORE construction commenced. Reportedly SMU just reached the 80% level and its been approved by the BOT within months of reaching 80%. If anything that's a promise delayed by lack of alumni donations and now kept in 3 years.

Lie No. 5: "Most of you are unaware in January of his last season he tired to resign, even foregoing the last year of his contract but these same donors pursuaded him to stay promising changes. When he saw nothing improving, he got rid of his home and iived in a hotel room for the rest of his stay."

Truth: Its too damn bad he didn't just go ahead and quit instead of cashing his paycheck for a couple of more years while doing half his job. June Jones lazy [deleted] recruiting has been exposed by the successor as wholly inadequate-pathetic really-- everybody in College Football knows it and he'll never get a decent college job again.

Lie No. 6: "Chad was no diffferent. Our people simply lied. And its not just the IPF. As I told you earlier three years ago, Chad will be gone before any IPF is ever completed."
Truth: See Lie No. 4

Lie No. 7: "It is no wonder our Athletic Department turned in Larry Brown. Worse, they didn't fight the NCAA, they didn't appeal, and they didn't properly support our coaches. Do you have any idea the cost and effort to do a forensic investigation on every computer on campus that runs through our server to identify which person helped Kieth with his online high school"

Truth: Larry Brown was turned in by himself when he lied to the NCAA during deposition testimony. SMU did contest the initial NCAA findings and in fact did appeal the sanctions. We didn't appeal certain parts of the NCAA findings because under new NCAA legislation a Level 2 violation results in an automatic sanctions that would have been futile to appeal. SMU also made the correct decision to take its punishment so the momentum in the program wouldn't be lost by transferring upperclassmen. SMU made absolutely the correct decision which is why we still had a strong program last year and this year and have apparently bridged the gap so that the future of our basketball program is as high as ever looking forward. This nonsense about the forensic costs to defend against NCAA enforcement is laughable because every recruiting contact with a recruit has to be documented under NCAA rule--and if you can't produce those records to the NCAA you are going to get nailed by the NCAA.


Lie No. 8: Can you imagine that the highlight of Tricky Ricky's tenure is to raise ticket prices twice at Moody and sign us up to get our asses whipped for a $3,000,000 paycheck. A game Chad begged for us to cancel. All to balance a budget that comes directly from the President's office.

Truth: That's just the price of competing at the FBS and Division 1 Level at a school with a small fanbase. It is a universal phenomenum and as links show to schools like Gonzaga and other Texas nationally competitive programs-SMU's fanbase has been paying below market.
