the funny thing is that we wouldn't have more than 5,000 people in the stands anyway if there was a real rain-just nudge a little to the left or right and you'll be fine.

Cherry picking every dissapointment one has had with an SMU athletic event over the past decade(some of which weren't even on campus) and then blaming it on the athletic director is a bit silly. There is not an athletic event on the planet that goes off without a hitch. A good microcosm of this would be a restaurant: you will inevitably find someone unhappy at any given time, on any give day. Such is life...get used to it. And there are some who will never be happy for whatever reason. Their comments are barbs, not constructive criticsm.
