It happens a little. I've taken more nut shots in competition (given a couple too) probably because of the adrenaline causing less control. By my third contest I had gotten over it and the tunnel effect was gone but it's still the craziest minutes of your life and you get a little imprecise.
Normal protocol is the away band plays its alma mater and fight song so their team can leave the field before the home team is honored.
We ran into a problem a few weeks ago when Aggie played a 15-minute version of their fight song and JJ "ordered" the SMU band to start playing so they could get the hell out of there.
UH should have started the fight sone immediately after the alma mater, but since they did not, the Mustang Band immediately started into Varsity to appease JJ. UH then started their fight song. It was definitely a big "F--- You" from the UH band, but that's to be expected from a bunch of future fast-food employees.

I would point out again that when houston began playing their fight song, their football players had left the field and all that was left was their band and cheer leders. Classless act!
