Wow that's great!!! Tell your "across the hall" neighbor that we send a big "CREDO" his way and hopefully he and Evan can meet up when Evan arrives.

Oops, I should have mentioned that was almost 15 years ago, otherwise I would.

There are lots of OC kids. Most come from Newport, Corona del Mar, Irvine, Laguna Beach/Hills/Niguel, Mission Viejo, Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills, San Juan Cap and San Clemente. Also lots of kids from LA, San Diego and Nor Cal.

GREAT!!!! Then they'll understand it when they see this big guy moving from class to class on a skateboard :D

Big Hoss wrote:Just watched the channel 5 interview with JJ from this past Sunday. He was sitting with Dennis McKnight, our new O Line coach, and it showed them looking at a tape (couldn't see the actual footage, just their faces). They both said "How can this guy still be available. Get him in here this weekend and offer him a scholarship."

I wonder if they were talking about Huahulu? I suspect it was either him or Emshoff, since he was watching the tape with McKnight.

Is this interview online anywhere? I would love to watch it. Thanks so much....

As they said, no actual footage of who they were watching.

Yes. Here is the link: http://video.nbc5i.com/player/?id=210773

The comment I was referring to is close to the end (about 30 seconds left according to the timer on the clip). It's only about a 3 minute video in total.

The full interview aired this past Sunday night, January 27th. But they showed a teaser last Wednesday that had JJ's comment, and that was the 23rd. So I am wondering if they taped it Monday or Tuesday if it was Evan they were referring to, since you said he first heard from Coach Jones on the 22nd. Enjoy!

In SoCal, SMU well known and perceived as USC's Texas cousin socially and academically. I think parents of kids that haven't been admitted to SC view SMU as an academically superior alternative to the Cal State and Arizona schools.

Thanks so much for the link. I'm thinking it was Evan that they were talking about as the coach that initially called told me that they were watching Evans tape and Coach Jones asked how he could possibly still be available. Wow that really brings tears to my eyes, we are so blessed.

That is EXACTLY how everyone that I have spoken with here in So. Cal feels about SMU. How lucky we are....

Mrs. H. Do you have the ability to download the highlight tape to this site? I don't think any of us have seen your son in action. Thanks.

For regular students, is it harder to get in to SC than SMU? I would think so simply due to the sheer number of students in that area, not because the academics are much different. When I started at SMU in 1989, they were on a pretty even keel...

Being technologically challanged I will be happy to ask Evan to do just that after he gets home from school.

I think US News ranks SC significantly higher than SMU nationally. My understanding is that admissions at USC have become extremely restrictive in the past several years. There has also been an appreciable decline in the level of talent walking around the Collesseum on Saturdays...
