I think he was eluding to the point about something else other than the hand feeling like a stranger.

Update: Houston, SMU and Temple are being considered for the final two spots. However, one source said Houston and SMU are expected to get the final two spots because of Villanova’s concerns about adding Temple into the league.

Never though UH and SMU would be tied at the hip like this...but both schools need each other now. Maybe they become our biggest rival, over TCU??

Well, we have like five 7-11s around our campus, so it's important we keep up the rivalry with UH so they're well staffed.

no way to they replace TCU as most hated. Not even close.
another issue for BE is not duplicating media markets - TV will give them nothing extra for another tiny school in Philly (sound familiar)?

Didn't realize the racist connotations behind the whole 7-11 story

Agreed. Hopefully this is the way it works out.

If we are in the same AQ conference as UH, fighting for a BCS game...I think that gives UH the edge over TCU, being in the Big 12. Are we rivals anymore with UT, TAMU, TT, Baylor? Not really. Older people think we are, but we are not. Rivals in recruiting? Yes, of course. But not on the gridiron.

Love that politics is keeping Temple out. Thank you Villanova. Also the allure of getting SMU and Houston as opposed to one or the other is far more attractive IMO. Hope it works out that way.

But why would they want to add another Northwestern?
Also comparing NW to SMU, NW has ~8.5K undergraduates, 10K graduates, a 6.3billion dollar endowment, and is a member of AAU.
It is at the bottom of the barrel fan wise in the Big10 with ~1/2 a million fans. SMU by comparison has about 163K fans.. Northwestern is also charter member of the Big10 (1896).
The only private schools Big10 has ever mentioned is ND which has a comparable fan base to the other Big10 schools and fits in well market wise. ND would let them have the top 4 teams in terms of fans (all well above 2million a piece). NW is #54 and SMU is #97.

You've got to be kidding. Ever been in a 7-Eleven? All of those [Gary Patterson]s have UH degrees.
