almost all of the games are tv games. You should start the movement by buying east side season tickets next year

Lots of good enthusiasm and ideas on this board. At the very least, the people on this board care. Ponyfans care about wanting to get better.

I just wish that we held the administration to a better standard.

It's not the students' fault that nobody gives them a reason to come - or to stay after halftime;

It's not the fault of the hard-core fan, we are still here;

Anyone who complains about the Rangers, Stars, Cowboys or the $%^&* Blue Man Group is out to lunch.

As stated here by someone else, there needs to be an outreach initiative to connect with the casual fan. There has not been a consistent effort to connect with this fan base for years -- and certainly not under Orsini.

If Orsini and his flunkies spent as much time on our attendance issues as we do on this board, we wouldn't have an attendance problem.

Students and fans are too busy kissing [deleted] on the blvd and getting drunk to even think about walking a tiny little 5 minute walk over to the Ford. I've been the majority of games in my limited two year span here as an undergrad, and I can't remember the last time I persuaded someone to go to the game. It's Ridiculous! Grew up a longhorn with season tickets and people get there 2 hours early for the games! 2 HOURS! The teams are even getting ready at that point! They might as well bus people in from the surrounding towns and then ship them back. That's what a lot of NFL teams do to get fans out to the stadium. Bring em in for the tailgate and then take em home after the game! [deleted] use some of the green we got for the BIg East

Also we must have 2-3000 people on the boulevard every week who dont bother to go to the game...that needs to be what is addressed first before we try to get people in the community....get the damn people who are wearing red and within walking distance of the stadium to show up....I graduated in 2005 and havent missed a game other then being out of town...I am also rarely late and rarely leave early...we need more tailgaters to commit to coming to the game....Maybe we need people to take tickets and go up and down the boulevard and make people feel guilty around kickoff time....

Physical force people. Round up all the people on the 'Vard with the police, if they refuse bring out the water cannons. Enough is enough.

Advertising sold out the TCU game with 80% SMU fans.

It helped get 80% of the fans there......but to be honest, we were smart (or lucky) that that game was on Family weekend. If we had 4,000 students bring their family (mom, dad, 1 sibling) thats an extra 12,000 SMU fans wearing red that night. If it wasn't family weekend, it wouldn't have looked that impressive. It still would have been really good, but not 80%.

BUT, we still need to advertise.

I asked "Where are you going?" and one of the guys said, "Game's over." I said, "Really? Clock says 7:00 left." His reply was "Come on. We won." I said, "Son, I've seen too many SMU games over the years to take ANYTHING for granted!" He gave me a quizzical look. Then I said, "You might miss one of the GREATEST plays in SMU history if you leave now. Did you ever think about that?" HIs reply was "Not really." And there you have it. (How many people had left the SMU v Texas Tech game when Bobby Leach made his famous last-minute TD run?)

Shoulda thrown an exploding cup of ice at them.

Easy solution to the student problem - the University requires greek houses to have a certain attendance level (say 80%) at each game or they get kicked off campus. Students must sign in during the 1st AND 4th quarter to be counted.
