I'm just waiting for that defining moment when something happens to SMU football when it will really be about the program and not the head coach.

I think they would get a little bit more excited playing a nationally recognized powerhouse in a legendary stadium right here. I think some fans would come out of the woodwork and so would casual fans if we were playing a Big 10 team in the Cotton Bowl.

Does fans coming out of the woodwork mean 5000 or 7000 fans?

Come on...its gonna look like the SMU WAC game attendance.

Isnt that game at noon on New Years Day?

Everyone has the day off on New Years Day and doesn't really do anything. Perfect day to go to a game.

the game is on the 2nd.

Re: Hawaii Bowl

ESPN targeted that match-up before the season even started and so I would not be surprised to see it happen if Hawaii gets eligible. I don't get all of the June hate over when/where we play. Whether we play at a place/time that I can get to or not, I will be either there, watch on tv, or follow on the internet from work.

Seriously how can any of this stuff bother anybody anymore? It's obvious June and Steve O are going to do whatever they want no matter what some anonymous bozos say on some message board.

Anybody who gave them money this year had to know it would go to a nice Christmas trip for some of Steve O's friends. They have been saying we are going to Hawai`i since this summer - even potentially at the expense of turning down the Independence Bowl if we would have managed to win C-USA.

It is certainly not a surprise. It is also certainly not worth intentionally raising your blood pressure and shortening your life.

Hell, I won't even be surprised if we show up in black again. There are enough people who don't care about traditions or fans being able to see the team in a bowl game who give Steve O loads of money just to see the team win so they really don't care about pleasing the masses anymore.

And the [deleted] about the players not being "up" for the Armed Forces Bowl. [deleted] them if they can't get up for a bowl game.

Yes. This.

I'm personally biased because the ONLY possible way I can go to a bowl game is one here in town, seeing as how I'm due with child #2 on December 29.

What bowl would garner SMU greater media attention than one vs Hawaii this year?

BCS bowl, the general public doesn't care about any bowl outside of a BCS bowl.

No kidding. We had a great showing in Hawaii.

We can't get people to Ford on a nice day, they're not going down to Fair Park on a (more than likely) cold day in January.

I can't believe that would prevent you from going to an out of town bowl game.
