Re: Players want to go to an out of town Bowl
Exception to big players like Johnson Beasley, Line, and others, screw the other players whining about what bowl they go to. Alot of them gave up, played horrible, and show no emotion. If they felt they deserved a bowl game, they should have played like it. This is for the fans (young and old) to be able to not have to drive, high expenses for a game they will most likely get trounced. I rather be decimated by BYU or Big 10 than Hawaii or Sunbelt.... Im really looking forward to next year.

Re: Players want to go to an out of town Bowl
Sounds like blackmail. If they stay home for a Dallas bowl, we can expect them to be flat? I think we saw that turd they laid in the AFB last year, losing to friggin Army on our home field, for a sparkling 7-7 record. I keep hearing that they like playing on the road. What about these road games this year?
A&M 46-14
USM 27-3
Tulsa 37-7
Houston 37-7

it's not that they want to play away from dallas, they want to take a VACATION to hawaii again.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Exactly a free vacation, not to play football or for their school, they could careless how they play during the reg season. Therefore they shouldnt get their free vacation. Had they played their hearts out kept games close, especially Tulsa and Houston. I personally think if this actually somehow happens: McDermott should be left behind.

If I recall correctly, anyone participating in a fall/winter sport use to report back to school for practice no later than the 3rd of January. If you lived on campus you had to find your own place to stay, at your own expense, until the dorms opened back up around Jan. 15. Summer nationals and other major meets were mostly on your own dime. Boo Hoo for these athletes who are put up in hotel rooms for some of preseason practice, before every game, and while practicing for the bowls. Also, what is the amount of stipend the non-campus members receive. It's not chump change at SMU because of the COLA in Dallas per NCAA. So, while there are some draw backs, I won't cry for them if they don't get to leave the city for a bowl. Like it was said before, if they wanted to bowl out of the Big D they should have approached USM, Tulsa, Navy, and UH differently.

Agree completely with SMUStatesman. Hardworkers, give-it-their-all people deserve fun bowls. Kids who give up, get what the bowl selection gives them.

Clever, maybe you should give me a reason why they deserve a free vacation. Do you think they actually tried hard? showed emotion? excluding the good players like Line. Why does a person like McDermott who has equal amount of Tds and Ints deserve to go to Hawaii (or at least have a say in it).

I have said in other posts (and trying to avoid repeating), excluding good players. Obviously the team as a whole didnt try. There were obviously a few that did, but they need to get the rest to jump in and try. I think thats what Taylor Reed tried to do and most likely took it too far with his frustration. If that was the case, he deserves hawaii. But the Mustang '11 team doesnt deserve Hawaii. If they get it, good for them, but they have no say.

Why would you think JJ McD has any say in what bowl we go to this year? The team won 6 games and earned the right to play in a bowl game. You have no say in which bowl game they play in either, by the way.

I care what they want to do a [deleted] ton more than I care what you want them to do. You're getting your panties in a bunch because some dutchbag media member asked them what they wanted to do, and they answered it.
but you're right, we should punish the seniors that fought through injuries because smu alumnus 11 doesn't think they earned it even though they are only the third team to qualify us for a bowl in over 25 years! you've been a fan for, what, 5 years? You've seen this team go to 3 bowl games in that time.
we won less than 7 games in the 5 years it took me to get my bba and masters, and I probably made it to more games than you did in the same period. a team that gets 7 wins in one season can go any where in the country they want. I don't consider this season a resounding success, but, in perspective, this is freaking awesome!
my preference is ticket city or beef o brady where we could play a b1g or big east team and get new exposure, but I was glad to hear that we have guys that are excited for the opportunity to play in a bowl game. any bowl game.

Right. The bowl selection process will play out as it would without all you b itches whining (they don't care what you say) and the team will play where they are slotted. If you cannot understand why a team - any team - would prefer to go somewhere other than home for a bowl game, pass the pipe.

Hopefully you arent referring to me because clearly I know that none of the players deserve it. The fact that they whine for a vacation annoys me. Im happy that their chances of getting Hawaii are extremely low. They dont deserve it and fortunately Hawaii blows and wont be eligible. It all works out, but no matter a team should play wherever they are selected regardless of what they want.
