Look, it is LESS outside of the realm of possibilities than PLAYOFFS, unfortunately. Do you think only you the little guys fans actually want a playoff? You'd be wrong, dead wrong. However SMU probably wouldn't have qualified this year. Michigan Ann Arbor wouldn't have made it either. Wisconsin and Michigan State would have been in but that's it. I want this [deleted] done right, enough people care about it so we need to do it.

Well, June better be putting it in overdrive given how the Sumlin rumors could be a distraction for his team on Saturday.
Personally, I think So. Miss is the better team. Even without the rumors, I think they can beat Houston. I like USM's QB Davis, steady guy.
Dude, UH is a really good football team. Just an impartial observation judging the last 2 games. I have not seen Southern Mississippi in action though.

If I'm a Big Ten fan, the LAST thing I want is a playoff.
But I think a plus-one system (a de-facto 4 team playoff) could come sooner than we think. Just add one more BCS bowl (Cotton), and have 1v4 and 2v3 play in rotating bowls each year. The winner of those two bowls would then play in the BCS NCG.
For instance, this year you could have 1v4, LSU v. Stanford in one BCS Bowl, let's say Sugar, and then 2v3, Bama v. Ok St, in let's say Cotton. Then the winner of those two would play in the BCS NCG. Seems like a fairly simple fix to me.

UH is really good. They finally have a good defense. But there's just something in the physical style of football that USM plays that really impressed me when SMU played them. Now, I can't explain their meltdown at UAB but I think they can win the game.
We'll see.

UH isn't losing at home. They'll get crushed as bad as Hawaii did in a BCS game, though.

Florida vs Michigan in Ann Arbor in December is an easy win?? You do remember the old Tampa Bay Bucs right? Nope, I want a REAL playoff and if we lose so be it. We have 894 wins, 3 Heisman winners and 11 MYTHICAL National Championships and I do stress MYTHICAL. We won the first Bowl game too, the Rose Bowl. I'd hate to see the Rose Bowl die, it's a true celebration of Americana, but it doesn't decide anything, not even who's really better between the Big Ten And Pac Ten. Get a bunch of midwestern boys that haven't seen the sun in 2 months and put them out there with all those lovely California sweethearts and any California ladies that read this you are exceptionally lovely ONLY Texas rivals you here. That's why Woody Hayes made his kids stay in a Monestary in '68... Yep, I've been to Cali a few times too.
Plus one would be better though, I agree.

Depends on who they play. Won't be an SEC-caliber team like UH faced in 2008, most likely.

Could be Michigan, if the Sugar Bowl gets their wish. UM by 2 scores, not a beat down.

12 team playoff with a bye. That means 4 +4+2+1 bowls utilized for playoffs. Here's how you do it. Conference champions and a few at large. CUSA/MWC playin game. SBC/WAC playin game. BE/MAC playin game or lowest ranked BCS conference champion. Winner of those games get three slots, that leaves 9 left. SEC-LSU, ACC-VT/Clem, B12-OSU, P12-OR, B1G-MSU/WU are in. That leaves 3 at large. This year that would go to Alabama, Stanford and Arkansas at this point in time. First round SBC/WAC winner v.Alabama, BE/MAC v. MSU/WU, CUSA/MWC v. OR, Ark. v. Stanford. Now tell me that the 11th rated bowl, wouldn't prefer Alabama/SBC/WAC to Big 10 #4 v. SEC #4. That would work and would in essence allow for the Cinderellas to have a shot to knock off the big boys. For example this year the play-in game would be huge between Houston and Boise. The winner would get to play Oregon who is entirely beatable by either one of them. Then they would get to play the winner o fthe BE/MAC v. MSU/WI game. Again winnable. That would set up a semi final game against probably LSU would would have disposed of the winner of Ark/Stanford.

So you're saying Notre Dame needs to join a conference if they want to play? I say they do. I really want Playoffs. But want in one hand and you know what in the other one and see what gets full first. I mean I am gonna watch the Bowl games regardless so I'm not really telling anybody I want a playoff by not supporting what is there now.
Sorry for dragging this one off into the weeds by the way.

Usually the Hawaii Bowl is the only thing on and dominates ESPN's highlights for an entire day.
That won't be the case this year.
There is an entire slate of NFL games during the day Saturday because the league doesn't want everyone playing Christmas Day.
So the 'bonus' of being the only game in town is gone. Hawaii Bowl highlights won't show up until 45 minutes into SportsCenter.
Great the one thing I was depending on when Im travelling...
Not a problem. The last NFL game will end around 4:30 Pacific (7:30 Eastern) and there is NO NFL game that night. So when the Hawaii Bowl kicks off at 5 Pacific (8 Eastern), it will be the only game on.

Roundtrip air fare with 1 stop for Dec 21-26 to Honolulu is running at about $1375 right now-about $75 less for December 20-25. You can get fares for the 1100 range if you want to make 2 stops. Fares are at very high level right now for that time period and rising steadly and sharply-much higher than the last trip. We're getting screwed if we go to the Hawaii Bowl. The worst part of the Hawaii Bowl is trying to make reservations 3 weeks or less prior to the game
