Most air balls I have seen in a college game in ages - 6? I think 4 from them and 2 from us. Wild.

I also thought number 0 would have been pretty cool to bank in his second free throw late after his two threes.

The fact that we kept the game that close is remarkable, considering we got virtually nothing from Williams and Jones, and we played 4 on 5 whenever Giles was on the floor. Anyone know the status of his injury? He was dragging that leg pretty bad.

Bernardi did not offer much on defense when he was in there either.

I was literally sitting right behind the SMU bench and heard Larry call the last play. He said to get a two if they could find an easy bucket, otherwise take the three with about four seconds remaining. Looked like Russell saw an easy bucket underneath and Cannon thought he was taking the three instead of making a pass underneath for an easy layup. I don't blame Russell at all.

If LB did say this, not saying he didn't, but what in the world could he be thinking? 2 quick points and steal and inbound pass for 2 more points? all within 4 seconds. just doesn't make sense.

LB said in post game that they should have gone for three since it took four seconds to get up the court. Was very emphatic that they were too slow getting across half court. Said Nit enough time in the click not to go for three.

what struck me about LB's post game comments was the challenge of getting past the "fear of failure". Rmember...these guys played for Doherty last year. That fear of failure is something he deeply ingrained into his players

When did we ever have "mild NIT hopes?" I've been saying CBI at best since we beat Hofstra. That was an upgrade from my expectations for this season which was no postseason at all. The only people who have been talking NCAA/NIT are those who refused to see the reality of this team, which is that we are short on height and on depth. The reality is that we are a 17 win ballclub.

WYO was a good team and way more than just one person. We could have beaten them but we wore down at the end. Acceptable result in my book...pretty much what I expected to happen. That said, I was hoping for the win.

Exactly. When your primary ballhandlers are expected to score a huge portion of our points, team assists are going to suffer, Also, all that penetrating is going to cause us to turn it over, as you're taking into the D's teeth, every time. We don't hit 3s, and we have no one on the blocks. When you are relying on Nick Russell to play make and score half our points, he's gonna get tired and throw the ball away. Bummer it happened during such a crucial stretch, but he was masterful off the high screen last night into his mid-range. Filthy.

I'm not sure we're a 17 win ball club to be honest, so I have no idea where people's expectations came from.

Honestly, I'm just calling it a 17 win ball club because I think that CUSA will be weaker than many expect. I could be wrong...I did notice that Tulane beat Alabama, so who knows.

we will do well to finish .500 in CUSA. I expect Tulane to be as much improved as anyone. Ed Conroy is a terrific coach and his teams are fun to watch because they play with great spacing and have really good ball movement.

Like coach said...better get us now because we are going to be really good...as soon as next year when some of these starters we are so pleased with are coming off the bench. It's going to be fun being able to go 10 deep

Two points. Then foul. Give up two ft's on the one and one. Time out. Take ball at midcourt. Then three to win or two to tie.

Do we get the ball at mid-court in college after a 1-1? If made, don't we then bring it in under the basket? If missed, we get the ball on the rebound (maybe).

My understanding is you can call a timeout after the second of the 1-1 is made and advance to midcourt.
