They keep changing them because they are all boring and nondescript. I'm not just saying that either - name me one helmet that is wholly original, creative, or stands out - one that will last and have the potential to be iconic, if only they had the team to sell it

I genuinely can't think of UNR's helmet right now, and I'm not going to google it. (Something is telling me it's an "N". Wow, isn't that something.)
All boring, all unoriginal. TCUs main design is a direct steal of the old Memphis State helmet with a tiger jumping out of a block MSU. No alternative helmet they've come up eith so far is ever going to be remembered. At least Air Forces other helmet looks like a fighter helmet - that's unique and awesome.
ALL OF THESE SCHOOLS ARE THROWING MONEY AT A PROBLEM (and some can't afford it) BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET IT RIGHT.
I don't want us to do the same - I don't want the helmet equivalent of those damned black jerseys. Better to do it right the first time.

I like our helmets...but mirrored red throwback would get pretty killer...I was just surprised at the assertion that affording it was prohibitive.

I'm with SMUer. I can't believe that USM, which has zero money for athletics, can have alternate helmets but SMU can't. That doesn't make sense.

But baby steps I guess. Blue throwbacks are a great start. Guess we will see chrome helmets in 10 years. Lol.

The Crue was just getting noticed in 83, I don't think Poison and Ratt had surfaced yet. From 80-83, RUSH had put out the Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight and Subdivisions, just to name a few!

Why do we need 2 helmets? aren't they both white with different stickers?? How hard is it to change stripes and stickers??
