Right, very similar.
Other than the complete lack of conference championships, wins over Tech (or any other "big time" opponent), and being good with developing QBs/innovative offensive schemes, of course....

Being an 03 versus middle 70s Mustang, you have no

relativity

I'm also clearly much further away from the theme of senility that seems to grow with each of your posts, particularly if they involve Jones.

Plano- curious to know your thoughts on local HS coaches saying recently they wish SMU recruited their kids harder.

I'm sure all HS coaches wish everybody recruited their kids harder.
One thing I'm curious about is how did JJ's recruiting classes at Hawaii rank? I'm thinking they
were about the same as here. He said when he came that he would be able to recruit the type
kids he needed to run his schemes. He was able to have success at UH, and we've had a couple of
8 - 5 seasons lately.
Guess I'm an old bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush curmudgeon.

No, but in that recent article where all area HS coaches "ranked" college staffs, SMU was ranked as one of the schools that showed the least interest/didnt work hard enough. That's a damning indictment in my opinion

June should internalize the slogan from SMU basketball into his recruiting: "LEAVE NO DOUBT!"
Recruit hyper-aggresively...if we still can't get these kids, at least we tried and we will cross that bridge when we get there.

There is a budget to recruiting.
Especially at SMU. We don't be needing to spinning our
wheels trying to get kids who want to go to
BIG NAME FOOTBALL SCHOOLS
This isn't BB, and LB, we will only come up a hair short.
That's why we need a
TEAM BUILDING coach like JJ who took Bennett's [deleted] poor recruits
to beat Nevada in our first bowl game since we were cheetahs

When's he going to build a team that can win a conference title or make it to the Top 25 or beat TCU more than once out of every six games?

This has to be the minimum expectation for our football program right now. Come on I would be the happiest man if we could win AAC championships every year and beat TCU 1 out of 3 times instead of 1 every 6 years!

June certainly isn't NFL-caliber by today's standards and he has hardly excelled with marginal recruits. At this point he's just a has-been living off of his reputation (wants to get out of here but can't find any takers). The last thing we need is another guy with a bloated bs track record using SMU Football as a way to make a few bucks before retirement.
