They can raise prices as much as they want, but the second the team has some adversity or an underachieving year, LB retires, and fans aren't renewing, SMU will be caught holding their D in their hand and begging for season ticket holders to renew, like football. And at those price increases, any fan will remember how they treated the fan who stuck by the team when they finally got good. I'm sure the football stadium was packed at one point too, and I'm sure prices weren't these cheap either when adjusted for inflation. Does that not teach you anything? Football tickets are dirt cheap yet nobody shows up. You build loyalty by treating your supporters well thru the good and bad times. Not gouging them the second the teams shows a pulse.

Looks like it could certainly add to the number of "Mustang" level donations to the Mustang Club...........looks like a "win win" for both the athletic department and the Mustang Club.

However, the team is still coming off an early departure in the AAC tournament to a [deleted] Houston team and a loss in the NIT to Minnesota--a team that finished below .500 in the B1G. I just really do not understand how the athletic department can legitimize such a drastic increase--even with Mudiay.

But if SMU lands Turner, the athletic department can charge whatever the hell they want for season tickets.

Not sure why everyone has such a hard time understanding this. It's just an awful way to try and build your brand....

You're acting like they can't drop prices back down. Supply and demand. When the demand isn't there, they'll drop the prices again.

A pretty "meh" conference that includes the defending national champion, Memphis (who will be very good next year IMO), Cincinnati, and a Temple team that has historically been a solid program. Yeah, it's not the 2002 ACC but it's a better conference than most.

Call me crazy, but I don't care about the price right now. Would I like them to be cheaper? Yeah of course,but if I was able to guarantee two tickets today I would have wrote a check for $1000. Next year'a team will be very special, probably the best basketball squad and coached by the best staff we have ever had. I'm just ready to buy!

I'm seeing a lot of other similar nationally competitive programs with similar or higher season ticket prices-and most have arenas twice as large. Examples-Memphis, Cincy, New Mexico, Xavier. BYU, Vandy. Now a lot of those schools have large arena that sell cheaper tickets in the rafters far away from Court but SMU doesn't have that luxury

Just for information purposes, this statement is not true. Never a problem getting tickets to an SMU football game other than during Doak Walker days prior to the Cotton Bowl being built.

I'll admit, the conference would be a lot less meh if not for Shabazz graduating. He played out of his mind and nearly single-handedly guided UConn to the national championship. UConn should be solid this coming up season, but a player as versatile as Shabazz is pretty tough to replace.

Outside of UConn, though, the conference is decidedly meh. Memphis has been a pretty consistent early exit since Pastner became head coach--in fact, I don't believe they've made it out of the first weekend since he's been there. Cincinnatti is one of the most infuriating teams to watch--and they lost to a Tommy Turtleneck-led Harvard team. As for Temple, meh.

Seriously though, we should be excited to donate more to the Mustang Club, to allow student-athletes to excel both on and off the playing field. It is because of us they have the amazing opportunity to further their education while playing for one of the most elite schools in the nation. I am glad to invest in their future. Pony Up!

It said at the bottom that NEW season ticket holders would pay the MC Donation "per seat." What does that mean, and how does it relate to current STHs? I wasn't sure how to interpret that.

I called the ticket office and for current season ticket holders the donation is one time, not per seat. Also if you donated for Football it counts.

Yeah you can, the object is to never have people leave. Did you read Cuban's open penned letter? He pretty much lays it out. As someone else said, you jeopardize a full arena in down years just to make a mil or two this year off the extra ticket revenue. Do you have any idea how paltry that is for a university? That's one SMU donors yearly donation I'm guessing It doesn't bother me either way, but those prices that were laid out, were almost in the Duke stratosphere. That is absolutely absurd considering the conference quality games and what SMU has been for the last 20 years in basketball. That's my opinion.

I'm not sure how to read this. My interpretation of what you're saying -- and if so, I agree -- is that SMU has a boutique product that ought to go for a significant increase in price. Yes. But you do ease into it.

So having said that, I am happy to pay $35 a seat in section 210 for about 12 home games. That would come out to $420 for season tickets. I believe the draft says I'll pay $500 including donation. I read that as a mild overprice if you want to retain interest from the non-diehard fan. It's certainly not egregious. But mildly overpriced.

Please resort to this pricing. I am a potential new season ticket holder and a young alumni. I want this to be true!!!!

...bc I have planned for this. Donation amount was going to happen regardless.
