Are the Baptists bigger hypocrites than the Mormons at BYU or the Catholics at Notre Dame?

Did I say that?

Yeah, exactly what you said.........."Baptist to the core."

Again, stated in a manner to say the school is acting inconsistently with the religion it claims to represent.

Why is that hard to understand, unless you've got some axe to grind?

I'm not even religious, so get off it.

this would be pinned on the student affairs person except for Peterson's comments. This is quite a hornets nest now. i dont know what will happen but i would not be too surprised if Briles is suspended for their OOC games (they think they can win them easily anyway) as a fall on the sword gesture. This story is not going away easily.

Pathetic.

What's really sad (pathetic) is how so many on this forum, like xiledinok, are so judgmental & high & mighty.

Shouldn't a true, loyal Baylor supporter have the knee-jerk reaction to defend Baylor?! After all, Art Briles has an impeccable reputation built on many, many years of coaching/playing at different levels. And doesn't Ian McCaw have a long-term, impeccable reputation?! And doesn't Baylor President, Ken Star, have an impeccable record across many careers?!

Shouldn't Baylor fans have the initial reaction to defend, not criticize? No one, repeat, no one on this board/forum has all the facts like those three outstanding men of honor & character.

Some of the critics on this board should, perhaps, look at their own laundry/beam...............................

Let the Baylor-haters have their day. Don't be one of them, x.

Baylor has tried to glide by in its pious, its self-rightousness cloud of delusion for years. Some of the Baylor alums either buy into it or are bamboozled. A couple of my buddies were recruited by their sainted former coach (the one with the statue outside the stadium) and the booze and broads were thrown at them the way we were tossing around money before the DP. These guys went on several recruiting trips and according to them Baylor was practically Sodom and Gomorrah compared to the others. And the head coach was in on it.

Yeah, this was absolutely shocking....the girl's family must be horrified that this "violent criminal" is not behind bars for at least 10 years for despicable crime. 6 months in county is an absolute joke. Is the judge really a Baylor Law Alum? If so I hope the national media picks this up and keeps this story going about this morally corrupt school....seriously between Bliss and now this, for me it really does solidify the hypocritical Baptist stereotype.

I would love to find a way to beat them on Sept. 4th. I think we should have some kind of "Respect Women" day at the game to make the environment as anti-Baylor as possible. Okay, enough of this rant.

"Rape charge", no one was convicted of rape. Rapists don't get six months in prison in Texas. He is found guilty of assault with sexual misconduct, not enough to convict him of rape.

Rape is a capital offense in Texas if a second offense is incurred, which means the first offense will not have been a six month sentence.

One does not go from six months in McLennan County Jail to death row for a probation violation once freed.

To clarify, the jury actually recommended only 8 years probation and the judge actually added 2 years and 6 months in jail.

This is on the people of McLennan County, not the judge.

Dallas Morning News is jumping all over this....front page story about it, and Kevin Sherrington with a sports front page column saying that Baylor must fire Briles if he is lying.

The DMN will stick to this like glue, knocking Baylor down will help their beloved Horns, they will get to the bottom of it

This story has so many bad layers but none worse than the way Baylor treated the victim. The poor girl will never be the same. It is heartbreaking to read her statemehts at the end of this article. I hope one day her father gets the chance to meet with Briles face-to-face. I wonder what lies Briles would tell him?

Wow - her statements are powerful. What a terrible circumstance all the way around. And in another article, the perp still maintains he is innocent. What world do these people live in.

Baylor tries to cover up a murder and now a rape - kinda makes a slush fund for players seem kind of trivial. As much as I hate Baylor, I wish they had done the right things, the human tragedy of this is not something to be taken lightly.

Briles looks so awful and the more he talks the deeper he digs. If I was Baylor, I would tell him just to clam up and refer reporters to the public relations folks, cause whether or now what he says is true, and it doesn't sound truthful, his tone and indifference to a tragic situation is making him look like an [deleted].

From the victim -

"Boys, men ... males. They all scare me now."

"I will never be the same. I'm no longer the soccer player or the social girl. I'm not even __ __. I'm just the girl who got raped."

He may not have gotten dismissed from Boise for the sexual assault situation. So when Peterson says that he throughly informed Briles of why he got dismissed it may not have included anything about that. Note in Peterson's statement he never specifically addresses that but he makes a broad statement.

Really sounds like two coaches who both know they didn't do anything close to due diligence, screwed each other because of this, and can't get past their ego's top shut up and admit they screwed up. Take a high dive in your sword, admit you should have been more skeptical of the case, list the new steps you are implementing to ensure your coaches and program prevents a recurrence, and separate yourself from the university admin who really screwed up here with the internal investigation. Admit guilt, push back to the admin who Baylor is much meet likely to want to blame, give them their patsy, and then say you will no longer discuss anything that would force the victim to gave the memory again. Devious but successful way to keep your coach, kill off your patsy administrator who you publication place all blame on, and move on.

Exactly. Now it's a he said/she said. Only Peterson and Briles know exactly what was said, and both have probably been told to shut it down. Baylor in a really bad spot now, but would they actually fire Briles? Won't believe it till it happens.

Hopefully this pushes all universities closer to instituting a zero tolerance policy for any of these guys with this type of history. Second chance, I don't think so. SMU was lucky 2 years ago when June quietly removed one of our own in the dead of night with no explanation.
