You're right. Who cares about moral shortcomings. Let's get back to football. Is Kendall Briles available?

I haven't heard anything either way. But I will say that it sounds like a great idea to tie a coach's salary to attendance when the last one didn't care. But, on the other hand, when the attendance doesn't perk up, the coach will look around.

No source here but I have to think HCCM would have his sites set on a bigger prize than the worst P5 coaching job currently available. The Baylor program is going to take several years (if ever)to recover. HCCM can jump from one rebuilding program (SMU) to a top tier program but to jump from our rebuild to the uncertainty of the bu rebuild puts his future chances of landing a plum position in jeopardy. From a man whose playing calling is risk adverse this seems like an unnecessary gamble with little positive payoff except for quick cash.

One thing to keep in the back of your mind - our assistant coaches would not be able to follow Morris to Baylor. They would want more experience and pedigree than that. Which means Morris would have to ditch them for the job. Does Morris strike you as someone that would leave those coaches behind after talking them into following him just a couple of years ago?

I also think Morris knows he has a hell of a team next year, and if he waits for that season he will have his pick of jobs at any school in the country and not have to deal with the issues at Baylor.

There's nothing preventing them from following Morris.

If CM goes to Baylor, they are going to let him choose his assistant coaches. It will be a very nice pay increase for them too.

If he jumps to Baylor I will be totally shocked because I consider him to be a man of his word with high character, but in reality I am foolish to feel this way.

Did he ever promise he wouldn't leave?
