Will RL make it to the end of the season? ThatΓÇÖs the only drama left.

A great disappointment for the Mustang nation. The future, once again, appears clouded. But then, we are SMU.

Are you an Austin College student, and a UT wannabe

We wonΓÇÖt win another game. 1st and G inside the 2 and we canΓÇÖt score. Terrible play calling. Moment was too big for Rhett. Favorites at home and canΓÇÖt even score a TD.

And this game is on RL. No discipline, boneheaded mistakes.
He looked down to me. Must be a Big SMELVE crew.

Why in the hell did we have a fireworks show.

Good question. Maybe theyΓÇÖre the kind that donΓÇÖt keep in storage very long, and we figured we might as well use them now rather than wait until next year for another win, when they might not work.

Horrendous play calling.
Horrendous mistakes all around the offense.
Just bone head mistakes, that a seasoned team should not be making.
Rhett, you got a problem.

The offense was an embarrassment, and the ill advised fireworks were a a typical SMU what the heck are they doing finale.
Beautiful night with a great crowd and we crapped the bed. Gonna be a tough year in our new conference when you canΓÇÖt score a touchdown at home against a mid level little 12 team.

Maybe Duke?
Duke won at Northwestern last night. IΓÇÖm in no way a Duke homer versus SMU but last nightΓÇÖs SMU would get torched in Durham.

Well you're probably right, but Duke didn't look very good last night (but nor did NW). That game was hard to watch. Like I said in an earlier post: this is looking more and more like 2-10. NO ONE saw that coming.
I was actually planning to go to Durham for that game (my brother-in-law went to Duke). But no way in hell I am wasting time and money on that now.

I hate losing. We all hate losing…. We could all see our issues last night: play calling (Rhett), QB play was bizarre at times, O-line deserves its own thread, and receivers catching balls.
Improved things: Defense, Special teams, game atmosphere, attendance (we were not out numbered and continued to remain loud throughout the night), students at the game, and our band and cheerleaders worked their tails off.
Now, our coaches including Rhett (and especially Rhett and our O-line coach) need to get their butts get in high gear and coach up these kids.

Yeah, lots of penalties and mistakes. I think that will get cleaned up. Most of the ugliness, and a good part of the penalties too, can be attributed to the conditions: intermittent heavy rain and a strong wind out of the north all game (and no actual "stadium" to act as a windbreak--Northwestern and the B1G should be embarrassed to host games on that converted soccer field.
In other news, Durham is a fun trip if you change your mind, and there's a Duke-Arizona State MBB charity exhibition in Cameron the day after Duke-SMU on the gridiron.
