Re: Unofficial TCU at SMU game thread
It's just that the Iron Skillet stays with SMU. TCU decided long ago that it wasn't important to them, that it was more or less a participation ribbon they collected each season. They claimed other, better rivalries. Once they hit 4 /6/7 wins between losses to us they felt this series was far beneath them. SMU had a streak of 15 wins in a row and didn't feel the same, or treat their rivals with such disrespect. The Iron Skillet stays where it was wanted.

Skillet stays at SMU for a year. We play them next year in FW. Need to kick Snaykes' rear one more time. BTW, we've beat them 3 out of the last 5 years.
May the forth be with us.

I find it hard to find a better experience over the past 30 years at home to be honest.ShantyBoy wrote:Today might well be my favorite experience so far in all my years of Mustang fandom. The packed house, return to a real college game day environment, outstanding student turnout, and a big win over the toads. And the dykes deal was just the cherry on top. Awesome!!
The Tulane win to win the Conference last year, is by far my favorite memory as a Mustang for someone who didn't get to live through the Pony Express days.
But a home experience, where it was packed, had an actual college game day environment all across campus, where the boys actually came out and played how we knew they could for the entire contest. The fact that was it was over TCU, and the fact that that man got ejected just made it all the better.
Yesterday was exactly what SMU football should be all about.
Let's do it again against the Noles.

The fact that the CW came back and roasted them with the final score is amazing!SMU Pom Mom wrote:TCU football rather rudely and unnecessarily dissed the CW yesterday on X and the comment section is pure gold.

Re: Unofficial TCU at SMU game thread
A few conclusions from me.
- SMU dominated both lines of scrimmage
- SMU has more speed
- Smith was a difference maker
- Dykes is a tool, clown and a complete sourpuss
- after seeing that BYU destroyed #13 ranked Kansas state leads me to think: (1) that game wasnΓÇÖt as bad of a loss as I thought and (2) what a wasted opportunity to not have done a bit better offensively that game as I think weΓÇÖd be ranked this weekend had we won
- letΓÇÖs kick FSUΓÇÖs a-$$ this week!! It will be ACCΓÇÖs game of the week

Re: Unofficial TCU at SMU game thread
My fault, I kept seeing articles about "Moving on from this rivalry" and that 2025 season would be the final, and assumed the 2024-2025 season was the "2025 season" and our final scheduled match. I see us schedule at Amon Carter Stadium next season, as you say; we'll see if that game stays as planned.PlanoStang wrote:Skillet stays at SMU for a year. We play them next year in FW. Everything went SMUΓÇÿs way - officiating, the Dykes melt down, turnovers. And to their credit, they took full advantage. Smith appears to be an exceptional talent. The whole game was an SMU fanΓÇÖs dream. And on top of it all, the Preston Stone Era came to an end.
A long tradition of existence.

So whoever hacked GeezerdonkΓÇÖs account, thank you for at least a glimmer of positivity mixed in with the typical passive aggressive comments. Well done.
