Phil Bennett is still the Coach!

Post by Ponyfan4ever »

At this time Phil Bennett is still the coach. He & Steve Orsini are simply meeting to evaluate the program and the season. Nothing new here...happens every year. Everybody needs to slow down a bit! I mean seriously this is getting out of hand! All of the wish list speculation...needs to chill. This will work itself out...but until we here something official from SMU Athletics lets debate the BCS or something that is constructive.

Thanks.

Floridas D should be able to handle him...but him lining up as a passer will be as interesting to watch as Tebow bulldozing the middle...Its kind of funny to think that they are kind of the inverse of one another. Running QB and a Passing RB! Thanks by the way!! I am just sick of all this meaningless speculation!

Why chill? Isn't speculation what we do every week when we predict the outcome of the upcoming game, predict the attendance on Halloween, predict how many TD's JW will throw?

Whether PB is our coach next season IS what is news right now and IS what is relevant to SMU and its fans.

well said Ponyfan4ever!

on another note: "... debate the BCS..."

I DON'T THINK SO!!! There is nothing to debate. It's a cartel & nothing more or less!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Who will Bennett vote for all-conference today? I wonder if he will vote for Dillard at receiver.

Dillard is a stud. All you have to do is throw it in his general direction and he will catch it. It will be interesting to see what Dillard and their new QB, Nathan [deleted] a Sr. at Allen, can do. [deleted] has thrown for 2939 yds., 23 TD's, and NO interceptions this year.

It just says "staff". That could be anyone on the staff, including the OC. And that's even acknowledging that they have accurate information.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

I would submit to you that the discussions were about buyout terms and how it would be paid, what to do with the commitments...etc.

It's a question of when and not if the announcement is made that Bennett and his staff have been let go.

And that's OK. Life will go on for Phil, his family, the assistants. It's the coaching world. It happens.

I think PB stays because of this talk with Orsini. Like JJT said "He deserves another year" and I'm sure that's what Orsini is telling PB....

Lets give him one last chance to lead us to that bowl game we've been waiting for, for over 20 years.
