PARIS - Marcel Marceau, whose lithe gestures and pliant facial expressions revived the art of mime and brought poetry to silence, died Saturday. He was 84.

it was hard for him to express his true feelings. No one seemed to understand what he wasn't trying to say. But he never was one to blow his own horn. He led by example.
