Went out and saw a couple of friends, and caught the VA Tech Miami game at Lane Stadium, so figured to share all the wonderful things that Tech has to offer.
-Strict No Re-entry policy. Signs everywhere.
-No alcohol sold in stadium.
-Hawkers selling cokes and hot-chocolate in the stands.
-Here's the important part: If you think the event staff is bad at Ford, try Lane Stadium. This was hands down, the WORST game-day I've ever had at my tender age. The stadium was harder to get into then the White House. I wound up having to use 4 different tickets, and had my ticket checked FOUR times after I had gotten in the stadium.
-The event staff were like the secret police, and it would have been a great time to rob a bank-- every police officer within 100 miles was at the stadium. Friends said that they had never seen it like that before, had no idea why.
-Good tailgating, but nothing unique. SMU probably isn't gonna draw more tail gaters than a Tech or a Maryland, but I really like the Boulevard. It's unique and damn is it fun in it's own right. Blacksburg was a lot of fun, but it was, well, unoriginal.
-The ACC travels better than CUSA
-Death Valley is louder than Lane, but when they chant "Let's Go" on one side, and "Hokies" on the other, it's great.
-Much more in stadium advertising.
-They also showed a highlight clip from the 1972 season highlighting their QB I think Don Strauth was his name...showed a couple clips from the game against SMU which was cool.
Lot of fun, great time. And oh, they don't know who our next coach will be.

Well, they were playing Miami.

Oh hands down the best part was with about 5 minutes to go, an entire section of the stadium opened up a huge sheet that said
U LOSE in the Canes colors.

Pretty sure that was Don Strock. Didn't he play for the Dolphins later?
When I was in high school, our fb coach took us on a "field trip" to Lane Stadium to watch them play a 1-AA team I don't remember. This was when Bruce Smith was playing. He kept yelling, "Watch Bruce Smith! Y'all watch Bruce Smith and learn something!" like that was going to make us play better. Not quite the atmosphere it has become today, as Tech was only starting to get good at the time. Still the COLDEST place I have ever watched a football game. Wind chill must have been about 4.

Yep and he was also the coach at FIU when they had their brawl last year against Miami.

They don't sell alcohol in Lane stadium becasue besides Ohio St. fans, VA Tech fans are probably the meanest and belligerent in the nation.

Thanks for the report.
It's always fun visiting other venues.
As far as re-entry, TCU, Notre Dame, The Dallas Cowboys, The Dallas Mavericks, The Texas Longhorns, and many others do allow re-entry.
Btw....We left and re-entered Ford Stadium the last two games without problem.

I think they did that to get the attendance count up to 10,000. They double counted everyone.

I suspect Security is heightened at Tech because the shooting spree there just happened last winter. And they don't want a Black Sunday re-enactment. Hokies would be the Aggies of Virginia were it not for the existence of VMI. Next week they have to play Virginia for the ACC coastal title in Charlottesville which of course is more wink, wink, nod, nod toward alcohol in the stadium. And duh, they don't sell liquor in any NCAA stadium. You have to sneak your own into the game. There are very tried and true techniques for sneaking a flask into the stadium. Ask your friends to give you a primer.

There were alcohol sales at Robertson Stadium in Houston.
Give me Charlottesville over Blacksburg any day of the week. Better city, better school, better campus, better stadium, etc. GO HOOS! BEAT VPI!

I heard UCF sells beer in their stadium. Don't know if that's true.

A guy stopped by our tent on the BLVD saturday and said the tailgate at LSU is unbelievable. He said basically every square inch all around the stadium and campus buildings in covered with tailgate tents.

Formerly true. UCF played in the Citrus Bowl, which sells beer, until last year. This year, they moved to a new on campus stadium where they don't sell beer.

Is Tulane the only college football team that sells beer/alcohol inside their stadium?

LSU's tailgating is amazing. It has to be experienced to be understood. But...I think the setting of the Blvd is better.
To your other post: Tulane is not the only college football team that sells alcohol/beer inside their stadium. Houston comes to mind as another school that does.
