More HC vacancies daily, should we be concerned??

I posted this on the coach carousel message, but thought it was worth repeating...

anyone else concerned that more job openings are being announced daily and contrary to what smu blogger thought, actually there will be a higher # of vacancies than anticipated??

i think if we don't already have our man, we may be in some serious trouble with the competition. It all starts at the top and has a trickle-down effect on SMU.

Lloyd Carr retires, in comes Les Miles. Suddenly LSU has an unexpected opening. Nutt is out, in comes Butch Davis, and now UNC has an unexpected opening. I could go on and on, but won't bore you. Either way, these are some of the jobs openings that we will be competing with..

Michigan
Nebraska
Arkansas
Baylor
LSu (possibly)
UNC (possibly)

that is a scary list, and the season isn't even over yet!!!

I do not see a name on your list that was not already anticipated prior to Bennett's firing. I do not see how they alter anything that is going on. Plus I still believe our deal is already done.

i hope you are right!!

i just listed some of the top jobs, but i think they open up other positions across the college football landscape and just might weaken the talent pool we have to choose from.

You forgot to include A&M, UCLA, and maybe Duke.

oh, there are many more that i didn't include, but i think the longer we wait the more trouble we will be in. thats why i hope we already have our man!

I expect to see at least one more school on that list after the end of the season.

Will Indiana have an opening, or are they going to let their interim be permanent? They should let him stay. He's done a great job given what happened. Will ND have an opening? Colorado? Clemson?

auburn (if TT leaves to go to A&M), texas tech (if leach goes to UCLA), washington, georgia tech...i think there will be more openings than originally thought, and that's why i'm scared.

I truly believe we've got our man already. That's why it is so quiet now. It makes it sticky when people have to coach their last game, talk to their players etc. Both for respect for Phil Bennett and whoever we have hired. (Whether he is coaching currently or is in the broadcast booth.)

if steve-o is as smart as we all think (and pray) he is, then i would have to agree that we already have our man. at least i hope so. 8)

we're not competing with any of the schools listed at the top of this post. we'll be competing with the schools where a vacancy is left when a coach leaves.
